Sr. Category Manager, Amazon & Chewy
Franklin, TN
This role is based in Franklin, TN with regular in-office collaboration expected. Flexibility is a key enabler, empowering associates to make choices that support both business outcomes and personal needs, including occasional remote work.
The Pureplay Category Manager plays the critical role of helping to advise Mars on opportunities to gain share in Pureplay eCommerce and by shaping retailer-ready recommendations supporting strategic initiatives across shopper insights, assortment coverage and development, and subscription best practices. This role will be responsible for leading data-driven strategies that drive Mars Petcare growth across Amazon and Chewy and expanding traditional category management beyond assortment, pricing, and promotions to develop actionable insights for the Pureplay sales team to execute in effort to gain share.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 4+ years category management or retail analytics experience (ecom analytics a plus), preferably in CPG
- Experience with NielsenIQ, Stackline, or market-data equivalent, and familiarity with digital shelf analytics platforms
- Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
- Comfort using imperfect data to make strategic recommendations
Preferred Qualifications:
- Have strong functional/technical understanding of eCommerce fundamentals
- Prior and demonstrable experience building and executing omnichannel joint business plans
- Pet Category Experience
- Strong bias for action and ability to thrive in ambiguity
- Adept at developing customer relationships (internal and external) and influencing action
What would be your key responsibilities?
Insights and Data Analytics
- Business Reviews: Synthesize disparate data streams across traditional, syndicated sources and digital shelf analytics into concise selling stories that improve discovery, conversion, basket size, trips, and category growth
- Pureplay Score-carding: Monitor dollar share, search and traffic share, new item performance, and promotional presence to surface shifts and recommend action to improve PDP conversion drivers, such as pricing, relevant pack sizes, and compelling claims
- Category Forecasting: Leverage multiple data sources, retailer filing reports, and industry trend articles to build and manage retailer-specific 3-year category forecasts and execute monthly reporting reviews to inform sales and share forecasts across brand technologies
- Pureplay Measurement Capability: Co-develop scorecards and predictive models integrating traditional and digital shelf measures, search velocity, and subscription variables into repeatable reporting that measures performance, digital shelf impact, and retailer opportunity
Customer and Channel Strategy Development
- Pureplay Execution: Ensure products are available, competitive, as measured by price/pack architecture and promotion, discoverable, accurately represented, and optimized for conversion
- Customer Collaboration: Provide category input for customer meetings, joint business planning, category reviews, and retailer-specific growth plans
- Category Visioning: Provide future-looking category thought leadership by anticipating shopper behavior, retailer and/or macro capabilities (e.g., fulfillment or agentic), and competitive activity to influence outer year growth plans
Cross-Functional Collaboration and Communication
- Cross-Functional Digital Capability: Be an eCom Subject Matter Expert (SME) to cross-functional Product Growth Teams (PGT) to help build organizational digital category management best practices
- Research and Insight Solutions: Partner with Insights team on retailer-specific research objectives and develop impactful category growth solutions supporting Mars and/or retailer strategic initiatives
