JOB SUMMARY

In this role, the Senior Business Systems Analyst (Sr. BSA) collaborates with key stakeholders to identify solutions for complex business challenges and works closely with the Director of Product Solutions to ensure alignment between product strategy and corporate objectives. The Sr. BSA takes ownership of initiatives from initial discovery through implementation and post-release support.

The Sr. BSA is responsible for becoming a subject matter expert in assigned products and business processes, including maintaining a working knowledge of the Product Manual and related documentation, identifying and defining solutions, managing stakeholder expectations, and driving projects to successful completion.

Working closely with business stakeholders, customers, developers, QA analysts, and the Director of Product Solutions, the Sr. BSA leads discovery, requirements definition, solution design, testing, and implementation activities.

Success in this role requires strong analytical skills, independent decision-making, project leadership, and a willingness to take ownership of results from initial idea through successful implementation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with Director of Product Solutions to align product strategy with corporate strategy
  • Lead the design and implementation of complex software projects and enhancements
  • Work closely with the key stakeholders and software developers to define and implement the software project
  • Be passionate about the user experience
  • Gather requirements and evaluate alternatives
  • Create detailed requirement specifications/use cases for the development team
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for systems and processes
  • Facilitate and assist in User Acceptance Testing
  • Lead meetings, document notes, and ensure follow up of action items
  • Work closely with the Director of Product Solutions to prioritize development efforts based on business needs
  • Work with development and QA teams to meet project schedules
  • Follow up, investigate, troubleshoot and resolve production support incidents
  • Perform functionality demos to customers

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Clear, concise oral and written communication skills, including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams
  • Demonstrated ability to independently lead software initiatives from discovery and requirements gathering through implementation and post-production support
  • Ability to develop a deep understanding of assigned products, business processes, system capabilities, and related documentation, including product manuals.
  • Self-driven, and able to work independently, including ability to deliver on projects with incomplete data
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, ambiguous and rapidly changing environment
  • Adept at multitasking and handling multiple projects simultaneously under strict deadlines
  • Independent project leadership experience preferred
  • Property & Casualty Insurance experience
  • Experience writing SQL Server queries required; Mongo queries preferred
  • Experience with User Acceptance Testing (UAT) methodologies and documentation
  • Familiar with Agile software development
  • Jira and Confluence (or equivalent software) experience

EDUCATION & TRAINING

  • Associate degree or equivalent education required; Bachelor degree preferred
  • 2+ yearsexperience in the Property & Casualty field required
  • 7+ years’ Business Systems Analyst experience preferred

Skills Required
