Sr. Big Data Platform Engineering Manager

About the Team:

With eight specialized departments, the engineering team functions as a highly collaborative, diverse powerhouse. Each department mission is to deliver seamless and innovative communication solutions. These range from software development and machine learning to quality assurance teams that work to create and maintain Zoom's user-friendly interfaces and robust infrastructure. The team continues to push the boundaries of communication technology, bringing people together regardless of their physical distance.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the global data engineering teams. Work with our internal stakeholders to understand their data need, and drive the design and implementation of Zoom’s next-gen big data enablement. 

• Create strategic data solutions to scale both the data environment and data usage of our Big Data platform. 

• Identity, drive, and deliver a strategic mix of short-term solutions to address urgent business needs, and long-term implementation to drive future value. 

• Build a self-serve data environment to enable our stakeholders to leverage data and drive Zoom’s growth. 

• Own and continuously improve the robustness, stability, scalability, quality, and accuracy of our data and data processes (ETLs). 

• Design and create multiple data layers for multiple use cases and multiple personas of Zoom’s data users. 

• Ensure 99.99% uptime of our data processes and stakeholder-facing layers. 

What we're looking for:

• Requires a Master's degree in Computer Applications, Applied Computer Science, a related field, or a foreign equivalent. 

• Must have 5 years of experience in job offered or related occupation. 

• Must have 5 years of experience in data engineering as individual contributor and hands-on/coding; writing complex SQL queries; coding in Python or Spark or Scala or any other common Big Data related languages; data modeling concepts with proven experience designing large scale data systems; creating and driving strategies to drive data democratization and enablement; Snowflake; Databricks; and working in AWS environment. 

• Telecommuting work arrangement permitted: position may work in various unanticipated locations throughout the U.S.

Salary Range or On Target Earnings:

Minimum:

$260,000.00

Maximum:

$324,500.00

In addition to the base salary and/or OTE listed Zoom has a Total Direct Compensation philosophy that takes into consideration; base salary, bonus and equity value.

Note: Starting pay will be based on a number of factors and commensurate with qualifications & experience.

We also have a location based compensation structure; there may be a different range for candidates in this and other locations.
