Job Summary
The Manufacturing Manager – SmartStart & Install Automation leads factory-to-field installation execution by driving manufacturing readiness, installation efficiency, and digital transformation through SmartStart iOMS and Mayan automation programs.
This role integrates manufacturing, engineering, and field operations to enable system-level installation standardization, BOM accuracy, and cycle time reduction, ensuring seamless transition from factory build to customer installation and improved time to first wafer.
Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing & Installation Integration
- Lead factory-to-field integration strategy, ensuring alignment from parts-build-test through customer installation
- Enable execution of Tier 0 and Tier 1 installation workflows and validation activities using SmartStart iOMS
- Drive “copy exact” deployment from manufacturing to field installation
SmartStart iOMS Digital Execution
- Own deployment and scaling of iOMS-based digital installation workflows across SPG BU’s
- Ensure delivery of system-specific installation instructions aligned with ship-along BOM, sequence, and specifications
- Drive adoption of:
- Digital task execution and sign-off
- Real-time progress tracking and issue logging
- SmartStart offline application usage in fab environments
BOM Accuracy & Cost Optimization
- Enable ship along BOM error detection and correction through iOMS mapping
- Partner with engineering and change management to resolve:
- Excess materials
- Missing components
- Incorrect configurations
- Drive cost savings through material optimization and reduced rework
Cycle Time, Quality & NC Reduction, Field Enablement
- Drive field non-conformance (NC) reduction through standardized digital workflows
- Ensure consistent installation quality across systems and sites
- Provide:
- Training materials and onboarding
- Knowledge transfer to iTeams, FSOs, and OSEs
- Establish closed-loop feedback for continuous improvement
Program Management & Analytics
- Own end-to-end program execution (scope, schedule, risks, deliverables)
- Track and report KPIs:
- Efficiency gains
- BOM accuracy
- NC and warranty trends
- Drive data-driven decision making using SmartStart analytics
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field
- 7+ years of experience in manufacturing, installation, or technical program management
- Experience leading cross-functional and matrixed teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Semiconductor capital equipment experience ( manufacturing, change management, field installation)
- Experience with:
- SmartStart / iOMS / Mayan or equivalent systems
- SAP or manufacturing systems
- Test automation and diagnostics
- Experience working across factory and field operations
