As a Travel Consultant, you’ll join our highly skilled remote team, providing outstanding service to our corporate business clients. We’re most proud of our warm and inclusive culture, innovation in the travel tech space, internal promotions, and career advancement opportunities. Most of our Traveler Care leadership started in this role, and you can find us in almost every other department at Amex GBT.
What You’ll Do
- Advise and arrange travel for corporate business customers (both individuals and groups)
- Conduct analysis and research on travel options, and pro-actively anticipate traveler needs to sell additional services
- Arrange and book domestic and international business travel, in a variety of complexity, for mostly air and rail
- Use various Global Distribution Systems (GDSs), mostly Amadeus and Rail GDS. Training may be provided
- Ensure compliance to customers’ agreed travel policy, service provider policies, and regulatory requirements
- Use positive telephone service techniques and act on special customer requests
- Collaborate within your team to coach, mentor, and provide constructive feedback to improve service levels
- Cooperation with Meeting Planners with interest and pleasure in working with reservation systems and participant registration solutions

What We’re Looking For
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in German and English
- Passion for excellence in client service, including proactive anticipation of needs
- Native GDS expertise in Amadeus (a plus is to have Sabre, Apollo, and/or Galileo too)
- IT affinity, experienced in MS Office, especially Excel knowledge is advantageous and is needed for daily work
- Attention to detail, Structured work and time management
- Act with integrity, and look after personal traveler information
- Possess a strong understanding of the travel industry (background in business travel, leisure travel, or airline reservation)
- Resolving customer issues quickly and independently / with supplier using Effective communication and conflict resolution skills
- Manage workflow in a highly complex & fast changing environment
- Team spirit, especially in connection with the willingness to accept technical instructions from the project manager / senior project manager
This Travel Counselor will be accountable for both individual goals, as well as shared team goals, and will be responsible for providing customer service and accurate completion of both international, domestic travel arrangements, and special requests.
Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8am – 5pm CET.

Skills Required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in German and English
- At least 2+ years of corporate travel counselor experience
- 2+ years of native Amadeus GDS experience
- Booking and quotation of flights and trains following provider conditions and supplier strategy
- Creative logistics planning while respecting customer travel policy
- Handle incoming customer inquiries mainly by email with Salesforce, also Outlook/phone
- Very good knowledge of flight and train products; group booking knowledge preferred
- Interest/experience with reservation systems and participant registration solutions such as Meeting Central
- IT affinity and experience in MS Office, especially Excel (needed for daily work)
- Structured work and time management
- Team spirit and willingness to accept technical instructions from project/senior project manager
