This role is based at 144 Oxford Road, Rosebank
Job DescriptionNegotiate and secure sales by optimizing value to the organisation. This role is critical in securing sales and supporting value optimisation across the Marketing team's commercial activities.
Performance and Delivery
- Monitor production availability with the plant, refinery and mine.
- Coordinate closely between sales operations and operational logistics.
- Respond promptly to customer enquiries and claims, follow up investigations and provide timely feedback.
- Provide timely support to the Sales Manager on supply and demand enquiries.
- Provide information to Finance to support cash-flow management and minimise working capital.
- Manage customer communications and deliver a high level of service relating to product quality, logistics and customer expectations.
- Manage customer operational-logistics interactions and communications to optimise logistics outcomes.
- Facilitate and coordinate customer and supplier claims and queries to support speedy resolution.
- Escalate and communicate contract-compliance discrepancies, logistics concerns and other risk areas to the Manager.
- Maintain accurate records in relevant systems.
- Process Improvement
- Support continuous process reviews to identify opportunities that maximise value.
- Support implementation of key optimisation projects that maximise value for the Marketing business unit.
- Degree in commerce, engineering or business.
- Honours degree - desirable.
Experience:
- 5-7 years of relevant experience.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in an international commodity-operations or international-logistics environment.
Technical knowledge required:
- Experience in sales operations, warehousing and logistics; dry-bulk shipment management and container-shipment management are desirable.
- Transactional or operational knowledge of sales.
- Strong written and verbal communication.
- Proactive and disciplined approach, with the ability to work with multiple parties from varied backgrounds.
- Ability to work independently, show initiative and remain self-motivated.
- Highly organised, with strong workflow, coordination and process orientation.
- Excellent planning and organisation, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Good numerical and analytical capability, attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient skill in commodity knowledge, including production processes, technical characteristics, market dynamics, applications, customer requirements and value delivery.
- Advanced skill in commercial reasoning and application across the marketing value chain, financial concepts and appropriate risk management.
- Advanced skill in customer relationship management, anticipating customer needs and delivering quality outcomes.
- Developing skill in identifying, quantifying and managing risk across the marketing value chain.
- Proficient skill in negotiation and influencing, using relationships and appropriate strategies to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with an ERP system.
- Proactive, disciplined and organised approach to work.

- Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- There may be ad hoc travel requirements from time to time.
