The Membership and Credentialing function helps support responsible access to TransUnion services and products by validating applicant legitimacy, permissible purpose, authorized uses, and applicable regulatory requirements.

Role Overview And Core Responsibilities

  • Perform due diligence examinations and investigations on more complex cases to support accurate membership and credentialing decisions. 

  • Authenticate end users' permissible purpose and authorized uses based on applicable local government regulations and laws. 

  • Assess certified intended use of requested services and/or products for more complex customers. 

  • Conduct examinations and investigations using third-party tools and resources, as well as online research that may serve as compensating resources. 

  • Determine, verify, and authenticate applicants' federal, state, city/municipal, and other government regulatory requirements, including requirements on international soil. 

  • Assess and determine applicants' business legitimacy based on local government requirements by applicable country. 

  • Support the enforcement of TransUnion credentialing policies and recommend amendments based on working experience and process observations. 

  • Support the Lead/Manager with departmental initiatives, internal partner guidance, procedural updates, and multiple special-handling projects. 

  • Document and maintain departmental processes while supporting QA accountability and providing clarification to the QA Team as needed. 


Required Knowledge And Experiences

  • BA/BS in business, finance, or a related field; this foundation supports business information analysis, due diligence review, and legitimacy assessment. Equivalent relevant experience may be considered if aligned with business and credentialing requirements. 

  • 5+ years of prior professional work experience, preferably in a role requiring regulatory review, investigations, credentialing, compliance, or business legitimacy assessment. 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret business information, identify complex issues, determine when to escalate, and align decisions with business needs and local governmental regulations. 

  • Independent judgment and decision-making ability to render membership approval/declination recommendations with limited oversight from a Supervisor/Manager. 

  • Strong communication, customer service, multitasking, attention to detail, organization, follow-up, and teamwork skills to support fast-paced turnaround requirements and consistent quality outcomes. 

Required Technical Skills 

  • Proficient to advanced office computer skills for documentation, process maintenance, quality support, and day-to-day departmental execution. 

  • Secure web navigation and online research skills to investigate applicant information while working within website terms and appropriate usage requirements. 

  • Experience using third-party tools and/or resources for examinations, investigations, and credentialing research. 

  • Ability to document and maintain departmental processes and support QA (Quality Assurance) accountability and clarification needs.
