Our client is one of the leading insurance firms in Nigeria with location across different states in Nigeria. They provide life insurance business and non-life Insurance business services to Organizations and Private individuals.
The Company is seeking to hire a Special Risk Underwriting Officer who will be responsible for evaluating unique and complex risks that require specialized knowledge and underwriting expertise. You will make informed underwriting decisions to ensure the company writes profitable policies for this specialized portfolio.
The ideal candidate for this role should be a highly specialized risk analyst with a strong commercial mindset, capable of navigating and profiting from the most challenging and unique exposures. You must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Increase Customer focus:
- Acknowledgment of mail and general correspondence.
- Preparation and delivery of Policy documents after concrete instruction.
- Preparation and delivery of renewal or adjustment endorsements.
- Writing of outstanding and reminder letters to ensure premium written are collected
- Accurate Input in both system and underwriting files
- Preparation of Renewal notices to clients 6 weeks before expiry of policy, and subsequent reminder at intervals as stated on the SLA
- Compliance with the use of Risk Assessment Criteria (RAC)
- Energy and Aviation Reinsurance management
Daily/Weekly/Monthly/Quarterly Reports:
Preparation of;
- Weekly Income/Collection.
- NAICOM daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly reports.
Inter/Intra Departmental Services:
- Providing detailed information to Claims and account units and any other unit whenever such is required.
- Assisting relationship officer/manager on relevant information or issues.
- Updating all underwriting files on EDMS on regular basis.
AIP and PPR Documentation to NAICOM:
- Collating appropriate documents
- Developing standard indexing in line with NAICOM Prudential Guideline
Requirements
- Good First Degree in Insurance, Actuarial Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 0-1 years’ cognate experience in the insurance industry.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Capable of assessing complex or unique risks beyond standard underwriting criteria.
- Competent in evaluating risk exposure and accurately pricing insurance policies.
- Possess deep knowledge of specific industries (e.g., oil & energy, aviation) and their associated risks.
- Skilled at drafting clear, precise policy language tailored to individual clients.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and demonstrate strong attention to detail.
- Willingness to learn on the job and adapt to evolving risk landscapes.
- Excellent customer service skills.
Benefits
₦190,000 Monthly Net + HMO + 13th month and leave allowance
