To execute flawlessly, Systel needs to enhance its supply base performance by sourcing new suppliers with enhanced capabilities in commodities that are struggling, developing stronger relationships with strategic suppliers, and better managing component obsolescence risk for key customers. We are looking for a highly driven individual who wants to make a dramatic impact on the business in these areas.
This role will report to the Purchasing Manager at Systel. This position is full-time onsite (in-person) at our headquarters in Sugar Land, TX.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of stronger relationships with strategic suppliers, such as Nvidia or Supermicro, to enhance collaboration with Systel’s product development and improve product availability for production.
  • Track emerging technologies & market trends, and collaborate with sales and product teams to anticipate shifting customer needs.
  • Collaborate with Systel’s engineering & product management teams to understand their technology roadmaps and assist in identifying potential new strategic suppliers
  • Identify potential new suppliers for underperforming commodity areas to strengthen overall supply chain performance.
  • Work with purchasing and other departments to understand supplier success criteria
  • Support buyers in sourcing new suppliers, including leading RFP processes and evaluating supplier proposals against defined success metrics.
  • Ensure new suppliers are onboarded effectively Onboard new suppliers to ensure smooth integration into Systel’s supply chain.
  • Visit suppliers and potential suppliers to develop relationships and/or perform audits to ensure supplier performance will consistently meet Systel’s needs Conduct supplier and potential new supplier visits to build relationships and verify performance will consistently meet Systel’s needs
  • Proactively manage obsolescence risk on key customer programs, with support from engineering, such that End of Life (EOL) situations do not disrupt schedules for development or production
  • Support the purchasing team in other ways as the business requires
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in sourcing or business development
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of strategic sourcing and business development experience
  • Familiarity with AT Kearney’s purchasing chessboard
  • Experience with performing on-site supplier audits
  • Experience with product road mapping
  • Experience managing component obsolescence
  • Experience in business development
Minimum Qualifications
  • Working understanding of computer electronics. This individual does not need to be an expert, but they need to be able to collaborate with experts effectively.
  • Willing to travel up to 25% of the time
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills and drive for continuous improvement.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; capable of building strong internal and external relationships.
  • Highly competitive and self-motivated with the ability to “make it happen”.
  • Time management, decision-making, and organizational skills capable of handling a demanding workload yet meeting positional and company objectives under pressure.
