Portfolio Solutions Engineer — US Commercial, Texas Metroplex
Location: Dallas–Fort Worth. Candidates must reside in the DFW area.
Meet the Team
Dallas–Fort Worth is one of the fastest-growing business markets in the country, and the companies building it are making their biggest technology bets right now: AI-ready data centers, security that keeps pace, and networks that just work. Cisco is the critical infrastructure company of the AI era, and our Texas Metroplex Commercial team is in the room helping those customers build what's next.
Two things define how we work: ability and agility. Ability means we know our craft, and customers can tell within five minutes. Agility means we learn fast, adapt faster, and never let a changing market catch us flat-footed. We win together, share what we learn, and take real pride in being the people our customers call first.
We're not looking to fill a seat. We're looking for a seasoned engineer who lights up at a whiteboard, a hard customer problem, or a technology they haven't mastered yet.
Your Impact
As a Portfolio Solutions Engineer, you'll co-own a territory of Dallas-area commercial customers with your Account Executive, representing the full Cisco portfolio: AI-ready data centers, Networking, Security, Observability, and Collaboration. You'll work with a wide range of customers across industries, so no two days look alike. This role rewards engineers who build trust quickly, prioritize well, and move at the speed of a growing market.
People
- Become the trusted advisor. Build lasting relationships from front-line engineers to the CIO, earning the right to be the first call when something matters.
- Win with partners. Team with our channel partners on every opportunity, pairing their services and expertise with Cisco's differentiated solutions to solve our customers' critical infrastructure needs, while you remain the customer's direct line to Cisco.
- Make the team better. Share what you learn, coach others, and contribute to a culture of curiosity and growth.
- Own the technical win. Lead discovery, design, demonstrations, and proofs of concept that move opportunities forward.
- Bring depth and breadth. Go deep where you're strongest and stay credible across the whole portfolio.
- Work smarter with AI. Use AI tools to sharpen your own discovery and demo work, and help customers find the same gains in their environments.
- Co-own the territory. Plan and execute account strategy with your Account Executive as a true partner, not a supporting act.
- Translate technology into outcomes. Connect what Cisco builds to what your customer's business is trying to achieve.
- Stay past the sale. Make sure customers adopt what they bought and get the value they were promised. Their success is how we earn the next conversation.
- Grow the business. Find new opportunities, displace competitors, and deliver on your number.
Minimum Qualifications
- 7+ years of hands-on experience designing, operating, or selling enterprise IT infrastructure
- CCNP-level certification or equivalent, or the ability to earn it within 12 months of joining
- Proven ability to explain complex technology to both technical and business audiences
- Based in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. Most customer meetings are local, with occasional travel elsewhere in Texas and out of state.
Preferred Qualifications
- Pre-sales solutions engineering experience, or experience owning technology decisions on the customer side
- CCIE or equivalent expert-level certification
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field
- Hands-on experience across more than one architecture (networking, security, data center, observability, collaboration)
- Experience working with channel partners and a consultative approach to solving customer problems
- Extreme ownership: you take accountability for your customers, your territory, and your results
