This is a high-impact, field-facing role for someone who lives at the intersection of deep Splunk platform practice, Horizon 3 market foresight, and customer outcomes translating what’s new and what’s next in security, observability, and digital resilience into narratives and artifacts the field can operationalize globally!
Your ImpactYou will play a key role in helping Splunk’s most strategic enterprise customers understand how progressive innovation in security, observability, and AI will reshape their organizations and in equipping Field CTOs, AI Solutions Architects, and senior specialists across the GSO with consistent, credible content to deliver that story. With your background in Splunk platform and AI capabilities, you’ll partner closely with Product Management, Engineering, Technical Marketing, and the most senior field technical community to convert innovation roadmaps into proof-of-value narratives, executive-ready briefings, and repeatable field assets that advance durable growth and customer outcomes.
- Partner with Product Management and Engineering leadership to internalize Splunk’s innovation direction, represent field intelligence back into roadmap conversations, and compose consistent global narratives that prove how platform and AI innovation drive transformational customer outcomes.
- Incubate Horizon 3 use cases detecting patterns in emerging security, observability, and resilience capabilities and translate them into buyer-legible stories about people, process, and technology change required for customers to adopt advanced Splunk and Cisco capabilities.
- Author and maintain technical narratives, demos, proof-of-value artifacts, and executive pre-reads that Field CTOs, AI Solutions Architects, and GSO specialists can use to message innovation with one voice across strategic accounts and industry events.
- Operate as a Splunk practitioner, demonstrating core platform and AI capabilities across security and observability use cases, grounding every story in Splunk’s differentiated platform moat as competitive pressure intensifies.
- Force-multiply output using Cisco and Splunk-approved agentic AI tooling to research, draft, iterate, and quality check artifacts under the Global Field CTO’s publish bar with human review on every customer-facing release.
- Curate and deliver executive-grade experiences in collaboration with Technical Marketing, developing content and talk tracks for Cisco’s Customer Experience Center and Splunk’s executive briefing programs that encourage CIO, CISO, and CTO audiences with art-of-the-possible capabilities.
- Compose how Splunk shows up on the world’s largest stages partnering with Product and Technology teams to define innovation showcases for .conf, Cisco Live, and flagship analyst and partner forums.
- Act as a strategic advisor and contributor to Cisco Innovation Labs and portfolio-level storytelling, working with Cisco’s product strategy organization so Splunk is represented credibly in multi-product, industry-specific innovation demonstrations that span the Cisco + Splunk portfolio.
- Collaborate with elite field technical partners and their innovation labs to understand external innovation signals, complement Splunk’s market narrative, and expand perception of Splunk’s relevance in the Agentic Era.
- Produce public-source innovation briefings and field receipts the GSO can cite safely following disciplined sourcing so customer-facing packs accelerate adoption without roadmap leakage.
- 5+ years experience in enterprise security, observability, or large-scale data platforms with at least 3 years in a customer-facing, field engineering, or technical advisory role serving strategic accounts or partners.
- Ability to move from idea to working artifact to proofs of concept, reference architectures, executive narratives, and demo flows that shipped to real customers or field programs, not slideware alone.
- Proficiency in agentic AI workflows for technical content production, research synthesis, and iteration—using modern AI tools as a core part of how you work, with clear judgment about quality, accuracy, and compliance.
- Strong executive presence and the ability to translate deep technical innovation for CIO, CISO, and CTO audiences—in customer briefings, executive centers, and global industry events.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- Deep technical proficiency in Splunk’s core platform and AI capabilities, with demonstrated expertise across security and observability use cases that underpin Splunk’s market leadership.

U.S. employees are eligible for paid time away as described below, subject to Cisco’s policies:
10 paid holidays per full calendar year, plus 1 floating holiday for non-exempt employees
1 paid day off for employee’s birthday, paid year-end holiday shutdown, and 4 paid days off for personal wellness determined by Cisco
Non-exempt employees** receive 16 days of paid vacation time per full calendar year, accrued at rate of 4.92 hours per pay period for full-time employees
Exempt employees participate in Cisco’s flexible vacation time off program, which has no defined limit on how much vacation time eligible employees may use (subject to availability and some business limitations)
80 hours of sick time off provided on hire date and each January 1st thereafter, and up to 80 hours of unused sick time carried forward from one calendar year to the next

For non-sales roles, employees are also eligible to earn annual bonuses subject to Cisco’s policies.
Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components, subject to the applicable Cisco plan. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:
.75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;
1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;
1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and
Once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.
For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay 0% up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
