Are you passionate about designing innovative supply chain solutions that improve efficiency, productivity, and customer outcomes? As a Solutions Design Engineer you will play a key role in developing and optimizing warehouse, eCommerce, packaging, and distribution solutions across a nationwide network of operations. This position owns the solution development lifecycle for new business opportunities, leading the process from initial Request for Information (RFI) analysis through Request for Proposal (RFP) response, solution design, pricing, presentation, and final handoff to operations for implementation. This position combines industrial engineering, solution design, automation, pricing, analytics, and customer engagement to support new business opportunities and continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate thrives in both technical problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration, leveraging data, engineering principles, and emerging technologies to develop scalable, cost-effective solutions that drive operational excellence.

Work Location: Hybrid in Johns Creek, GA.

Work Schedule:  Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5pm

Work Travel: Less than 10% domestic travel depending on needs of the business

Competitive Compensation: Attractive annual salary of $92,000 - $120,000 plus a performance-based bonus

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with sales, HR, Operations, Project Management, Quality, IT, Safety, and Customers to develop comprehensive warehousing, eCommerce, fulfillment, packaging, and distribution solutions.
  • Lead and support the design, evaluation, planning, testing, integration, and implementation of engineering and operational solutions for new business, retro-fits, and renewals.
  • Develop solution designs, facility layouts, operating models, and pricing estimates for new business opportunities and customer RFPs.
  • Analyze labor, material handling, storage, automation, and operational processes to identify opportunities for increased efficiency, throughput, and productivity.
  • Design warehouse layouts, storage strategies, and process flows for new and existing facilities using AutoCAD and other design tools.
  • Conduct workflow analysis, time studies, capacity modeling, and productivity assessments.
  • Develop financial models, ROI analyses, and capital investment justifications.
  • Evaluate and recommend automation technologies, including packaging automation, AMR/AGV solutions, AutoStore/ASRS, Sorter Technology, high-speed conveyance, Goods-to-Persons robots, and other emerging warehouse technologies.
  • Research and pilot innovative solutions, including automation, AI applications, simulation modeling, FlexSim, and digital twin technologies.
  • Optimize the utilization of facilities, equipment, labor, materials, and other resources to improve operational performance.
  • Collaborate with vendors and equipment providers to design and implement capital projects.
  • Analyze existing operations and recommend continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean and operational excellence methodologies.
  • Support customer solution development by creating operational models for distribution, eCommerce, and packaging environments.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety standards, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and site-specific procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in distribution, logistics, warehousing, fulfillment, manufacturing, packaging, or 3PL environments.
  • Experience designing operational solutions, process improvements, or warehouse optimization initiatives.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data modeling skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial and operational modeling.
  • Knowledge of warehouse operations, distribution processes, and material handling systems.
  • Experience creating facility layouts and process designs.
  • Working knowledge of WMS, SAP, ERP, or similar operational systems.
  • Strong project management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • AutoCAD proficiency.
  • Experience in 3PL solution design and customer RFP responses.
  • Experience with packaging automation, AMR/AGV technologies, and automated material handling systems.
  • Knowledge of eCommerce fulfillment and secondary packaging operations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, simulation modeling, and digital twin technologies.
  • Experience with pricing strategy, financial modeling, and solution costing.
  • Experience evaluating and implementing emerging technologies, automation, and AI-driven solutions within supply chain operations.
