The Solution Consultant is the primary business advisor throughout the customer lifecycle, partnering with Sales, Solution Engineering, Product Management, and Customer Success to design, implement, and optimize Morningstar solutions. The role combines consultative selling, business analysis, implementation planning, and customer adoption to ensure clients achieve measurable business outcomes.
As part of Morningstar's operating model transformation, the Solution Consultant owns the client relationship from discovery through implementation and adoption, reducing organizational handoffs while increasing delivery quality and operational efficiency.
- Lead client discovery workshops to understand business objectives, workflows, and functional requirements.
- Translate business needs into scalable Morningstar solution designs.
- Develop implementation strategies aligned with client priorities.
- Serve as the trusted advisor for clients throughout the engagement.
- Recommend best practices based on Morningstar products, industry trends, and investment workflows.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and maximize platform adoption.
- Support strategic client initiatives through consultative guidance.
- Own implementation planning and functional solution design.
- Coordinate onboarding activities with Solution Engineers and Customer Success Managers.
- Ensure business requirements are accurately translated into implementation deliverables.
- Manage scope, risks, and stakeholder expectations during implementation.
- Develop adoption strategies that maximize utilization of Morningstar capabilities.
- Support change management and user enablement activities.
- Measure adoption success and recommend optimization opportunities.
- Partner with Customer Success to drive long-term client value.
- Partner closely with Sales throughout the opportunity lifecycle.
- Collaborate with Product Management to provide client feedback and influence roadmap priorities.
- Leverage AI tools to automate meeting summaries, requirements documentation, proposal generation, and implementation planning.
- Utilize AI-generated insights to improve solution recommendations and customer engagement.
- Continuously identify opportunities to simplify delivery through automation and standardized processes.
- Promote adoption of AI-enabled workflows across the Solution organization.

Requirements

+ Familiarity with Morningstar products and capabilities will be a plus
+ A bachelor’s degree is required. MBA or CFA is a plus
