Charger logistics Inc. is a world- class asset-based carrier with locations across North America. With over 20 years of experience providing the best logistics solutions, Charger logistics has transformed into a world-class transport provider and continue to grow.
We're looking for a hands-on .NET Solution Architect to lead the design and evolution of our distributed platform: more than 100 microservices built mainly on .NET Core and PostgreSQL. You'll set the architecture direction, make the key technical calls, and work closely with engineering, DevOps, QA and frontend teams to keep the platform fast, reliable and easy to change. You'll still write code, build prototypes and dig into production issues yourself.
Responsibilities:
- Own the target architecture for our .NET Core microservices platform, including service boundaries, communication patterns, data ownership and how services evolve over time.
- Make and document key design decisions (architecture decision records, design docs) and lead architecture reviews across teams.
- Design service-to-service communication using REST, gRPC and asynchronous messaging (Kafka, RabbitMQ), with resilience built in: timeouts, retries, circuit breakers and bulkheads.
- Set the data strategy for PostgreSQL and supporting stores (Redis, MongoDB, TimescaleDB), including schema design, indexing, connection handling and scaling.
- Define observability standards for tracing, metrics and logs using OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, Jaeger and Loki.
- Shape our deployment approach on Kubernetes, including service mesh (Istio or Consul), service discovery, and blue/green and canary rollouts.
- Lead performance work: profiling, benchmarking, and finding and fixing bottlenecks across services.
- Set coding, testing and CI/CD standards, and mentor senior and mid-level developers.
- Step in on complex production incidents and drive root-cause fixes into the architecture.
Requirements
- 10+ years of backend development, including 4+ years designing and running microservices at scale.
- 3+ years in an architect, principal or technical lead role, making design decisions across multiple teams.
- Expert-level .NET Core (C#) and PostgreSQL.
- Strong experience with Domain-Driven Design, event-driven architecture, and patterns like CQRS and Event Sourcing.
- Deep knowledge of REST, gRPC and messaging (Kafka or RabbitMQ), and of resilience patterns in distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker and container-based deployments.
- Experience building observability into distributed systems (OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, Jaeger or similar).
- Proven performance profiling and optimization work in large-scale systems.
- Experience designing on at least one cloud platform (AWS, Azure or GCP).
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain trade-offs to engineers and non-technical leaders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with Istio, Consul, or another service mesh.
- Familiarity with Event Sourcing, CQRS, and DDD patterns.
- Exposure to Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Helm).
- Experience with other databases like Redis, MongoDB, or TimescaleDB.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Service mesh experience (Istio, Consul or similar)
- Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Helm)
- Experience modernizing or splitting a large system into services, or consolidating services that were split too far
