Job Description – Software Technical Consultant
Role Summary
We are looking for an experienced Software Technical Consultant with strong to lead the design and development of critical features. The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical leader who combines deep technical knowledge with problem-solving skills, architectural thinking, and the ability to guide and mentor a team in an agile environment.
Your Impact
The Software Technical Consultant is expected to work with brains and passion and play a key role in delivering high-quality, scalable features in PTC’s flagship PLM product Windchill, with a strong focus on Windchill Code and Configuration Extension modules. You will influence technical direction, ensure engineering excellence, and drive successful feature delivery.
Your Team
Windchill is the flagship PLM product of PTC. Our team is responsible for building and owning mission-critical modules and functionalities within Windchill. You’ll be part of a collaborative team with a healthy mix of experienced engineers and young talent, where technical excellence and innovation are valued.
Your Day-to-Day
- Lead the design, development, and delivery of features in Windchill Extension
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities and innovation in complex technical areas
- Define and own technical designs and architecture for assigned modules
- Develop, modify, and maintain high-quality, well-documented Java code with appropriate test automation
- Leverage Copilot and other AI-based development tools for:
- Code generation and refactoring
- Unit test creation
- Code reviews and documentation
- Faster root-cause analysis and debugging
- Ensure solutions meet performance, scalability, and reliability expectations
- Identify performance and scalability bottlenecks and drive them to resolution
- Review code and designs to ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members
- Collaborate closely with product management, QA, and other stakeholders in an agile development environment
- Take ownership of technical decisions and ensure timely delivery of features
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking abilities
- 7 –12 years of experience in software development with Java / J2EE
- Experience with module design, performance tuning, and scalability
- Exposure to Agile / Scrum development methodologies
- Ability to lead technical discussions and mentor engineers
- Very good verbal and written communication skills

- Experience working on large-scale PLM implementations
- Hands-on experience with PTC Windchill
- Experience of using Copilot and AI agents
