Software Engineering Associate Manager (AWS, Databricks)
Position Overview
This role requires a software engineer with 8–11 years of strong design and development experience building robust AWS, Python, Data engineering and services along with hands-on data processing expertise. In addition to technical responsibilities, the engineer is expected to provide day-to-day guidance to a small team of fellow engineers, helping drive quality and alignment across the group. The role involves designing scalable on-Prem and cloud solutions, integrating with databases and external services, and ensuring security and best practices throughout development. Key responsibilities include leading the design and development of data integration components, shaping coding standards, collaborating with partners such as Enterprise Architecture, Product Owners, and Data Engineering, establishing team working agreements, and conducting code reviews to foster continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain platform using AWS, Databricks, Python ensuring secure and efficient data engineering
- Document API specifications and maintain clear, accessible API documentation.
- Integrate with various data sources, APIs, and web services.
- Build and maintain integrations with Kafka, Qlik
- Develop and maintain Github actions, Jenkins CI/CD pipelines.
- Perform performance evaluation, tuning, and optimization of applications.
- Monitor and troubleshoot applications to ensure ongoing stability, reliability, and performance.
- Conduct data profiling of source data and create logical data models when needed.
- Define, document, and complete system requirement specifications, including functional and non‑functional requirements.
- Support business requirement definition, including helping the Product Owner write user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Collaborate with other scrum teams on design, testing, and related engineering activities.
- Define data needs and support the creation of test data for unit, system, and integration testing.
- Manage and provide day-to-day leadership for a small team of talented engineers, guiding technical decisions, coaching team members, and ensuring high quality delivery and adherence to coding standards.
Qualifications
Required Skills:
- Strong proficiency in AWS, Python and experience building secure, scalable APIs.
- Hands‑on experience developing SOAP and RESTful services.
- Strong SQL skills, with experience on Databricks
- Proficiency with Git and standard version control workflows.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, specifically GitHub Actions and/or Jenkins.
- Familiarity with Docker and orchestration platforms such as OpenShift.
- Knowledge of enterprise messaging systems, including Confluent Kafka.
- Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Ability to write complex SQL queries across relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, Teradata, etc.).
- Working knowledge of Unix/Linux scripting.
- Experience working in a SAFe Agile Scrum delivery environment.
- Understanding of data profiling and ability to create logical data models when required.
- Ability to define and document system requirements, including functional and non‑functional specifications.
- Ability to collaborate with cross functional teams on testing, including test scenario design and identifying data requirements.
- Experience with monitoring, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and ensuring application stability.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience managing and guiding a small team of talented engineers.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications in AWS, Databricks a plus
