Position Details :
SE VI may work across an entire complex domain. They will typically report to a Senior director of engineering and will contribute to delivery work across multiple teams. Their focus will be on aiding teams where they can have the most impact (examples include starting new work, helping to solve a complex problems that expand across functions) The role is to contribute broadly across the Grainger engineering community by staying in tune with current development practices and patterns, exploring new and evolving best practices, and driving adoption of those best practices. This role will interact across all of Grainger Technology Group (GTG) functions including Architecture, Security, Product Management, Infrastructure, Business Applications with a special focus on a delivery domain. Contributions will contribution to shared libraries with GTG, documentations, tool coaching teams, public speaking etc
You Will
Help build Grainger's external brand by engaging with the external tech community • Partner with Product Management to build cross-team technical visions that are aligned to strategic objectives • Translate complex ideas into clear approaches with tradeoffs • Partner with Engineering and Architecture leadership to help drive cross-cutting engineering and architectural improvements • Champion resiliency and aid teams in developing well-designed solutions that require minimal support. • Work with teams to deliver critical systems using cloud-native architectures and continuous delivery • Demonstrate and evangelize engineering excellence with a focus on practices that enable continuous delivery • Support and develop software engineers by providing advice, coaching, and feedback as well as conducting design sessions and trainings
You Have

• 12 years of software engineering leveraging multiple programming languages and types of architectures.
• An expert practitioner in several technologies domains such as application development, public cloud, infrastructure and application security, and the integrations across multiple systems.
• Demonstrated thought leadership across multiple disciplines with a deep understanding of underlying value streams and systems.
• Strong advocate for engineering excellence with experience in a Continuous Delivery environment, including both how software is deployed, and features are released.
• Experience with Continuous Delivery and cloud-native architecture, coaching and mentoring engineers of all levels, delivering and maintaining complex technical systems
