This is a hybrid role in San Jose CA. You will be working in office 3 days per week.

Meet the Team

The Cisco IQ Platform Team is the high-velocity engineering engine within CX Engineering, powering Cisco’s entire customer experience ecosystem. We build the unified, AI-powered foundation—including infrastructure, frameworks, system services, and data connectors—that allows our services to be anticipatory rather than reactive. As a Solution Test Engineer, you will be a technical individual contributor focused on the end-to-end reliability of the Cisco IQ ecosystem, ensuring that our shared foundation supports both SaaS and on-premises delivery models with confidence.

Your Impact

In this role, you will bridge the gap between platform infrastructure and the customer experience. You will move beyond simple bug detection to architecting UI/API automation frameworks and leveraging agentic AI workflows to ensure Cisco’s IQ Platform (React-based UIs and Kafka-based back-ends) remains resilient, performant, and secure.

  • E2E Strategy & Execution: Lead the end-to-end testing lifecycle, designing complex scenarios that validate user workflows, device interactions, and data flows across Cisco network enterprise environments.

  • Automation Leadership: Build and maintain scalable UI/API test automation frameworks for React applications and back-end APIs.

  • AI Innovation: Drive the adoption of Agentic AI (automated test data generation and script refactoring) to build no-code automation flows and optimize script efficiency.

  • Platform Excellence: Support the consolidation of frameworks and common services. Validate event-driven architectures and Kafka data pipelines to ensure "nobody has to think about the plumbing."

  • Systemic Troubleshooting: Diagnose complex connectivity and data workflow issues, identifying root causes across the stack—from front-end code to core networking protocols.

  • Mentorship: Conduct rigorous design reviews and mentor G4/G6 engineers, cultivating a culture of engineering excellence through collaboration and technical data-driven insights.

Minimum Qualifications
  • 5 years of professional engineering experience in Solution Testing or Software Quality Engineering (with a Bachelor’s); 3+ years (with a Master’s)

  • Programming experience building automation scripts and object-oriented test suites using Python or Java

  • Experience with test automation for React UI and REST APIs (e.g., Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, REST Assured, or PyTest)

  • Experience with Linux/Unix command-line utilities, shell scripting, and system logging

  • Experience integrating UI and API test cases into Jenkins/GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines

Preferred Qualifications
  • Exposure to Agentic testing concepts and AI-driven script refactoring to enhance testing frameworks

  • Core networking (L2/L3 protocols, TCP/IP); CCNA/CCNP certification

  • Experience with Kafka for data pipelines and AWS cloud-native services (EC2, EKS, S3)

  • Experience normalizing APIs and consolidating frameworks within a global, distributed team environment

  • Experience testing MongoDB or other NoSQL databases
