JOB SUMMARY
The GraphQL API team at Marriott believes they can improve the digital experience of millions of guests around the globe. They also believe they can improve the engineering experience for their team and other Marriott associates. We are seeking a highly engaged and motivated JavaScript Engineer who is passionate about continuously improving their skills and learning new technologies. The ideal candidate will have a strong JavaScript/TypeScript background and possess exceptional communication skills.
In this role you will function as a technical expert and lead engineer within the GraphQL team. You will perform research, analysis, design and development on an emerging GraphQL API platform. You will be responsible for interacting with consuming digital teams (web, mobile etc) as well as domain API teams. This role acts as a bridge between the two and requires strong communication skills.
To be successful in this role the person will have to be able to shuffle and prioritize multiple initiatives. It is common that you will be engaging with multiple teams from different areas and providing technical solutions to the challenges they bring to the table.

CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience
Required:
- 7+ years of experience in the field of software development with primary expertise in DevOps
- Experience with API Gateways (AKANA preferred) and CDNs (AKAMAI preferred)
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in build and deployment of GraphQL ecosystem of applications, services and artifacts including but not limited to gateway / router, subgraphs, supergraph composition, schema registry, graph variants, contracts, and apps implementing GraphQL client too.
- Understanding of the software development lifecycle and Agile (SCRUM) Process.
- 5+ years working with Cloud delivery services (preferably AWS)
- 5+ years working with CI/CD Pipelines using Harness or Jenkins
- 5+ years maintaining deployed application environments
- Experience working with Kubernetes and Containerization
- Knowledge of Release Management process
- Self-motivated and results-driven, with a passion for learning and growth
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with modern front-end or back-end web technologies and frameworks
Preferred:
- AWS Solutions Architect or Developer certification
- Experience with RUST or other emerging web technologies

Technical Leadership

Service Provider Management
- Validates that Service Providers develop and manage respective aspects of a project plan, including schedules, deliverables, and appropriate metrics.
