The Role

Role Description: Software Engineer


Role Purpose:


As a Software Engineer at Wasabi, you will use your knowledge of computer architecture, operating systems, algorithms, and data structures to help a talented team build highly reliable, secure, scalable, and innovative cloud software solutions for Wasabi's hot cloud storage service. To be successful in this role, you should have expertise in agile software development, be able to collaborate with team members, and be a strategic problem-solver.

In this position, you should demonstrate excellent communication skills, an ability to connect with other engineers and developers, and have a solid foundation in software design.


This role will report directly to the Technical Lead.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with a highly effective agile team building a global application and services platform. 
  • Design, develop, test, deploy and maintain application software.
  • Audit, improve, and optimize code for speed, efficiency, and scalability.
  • Contribute and drive idea generation for new application capabilities and bring them to fruition. 
  • Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code in addition to tests and documentation.
  • Maintain a consistent level of communication between developers and the application stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the improvement of the application team’s software and agile process.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience as a software engineer.
  • 2+ Experience with Agile software development principles and methodologies
  • 3+ years with hands-on programming experience using high-level programming languages such as Go, Java, Python.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Experience with web services and an understanding of modern API best practices (HTTP, REST, Swagger, gRPC)
  • Experience with SQL and developing applications with relational database technologies (preferably MySQL) is preferable.
  • Experience with Javascript, Typescript, Angular, React, Redux, MUI, styled-components, CSS is preferable.
  • Understanding of S3 protocol is desirable
  • Experience in the development of distributed/scalable systems and high-volume transaction applications is desirable.
  • BS degree in Computer Science or related is desirable.
  • Familiarity with modern virtualization and containerization technologies (virtual machines, Docker, Kubernetes, etc) and public cloud environments (AWS, Azure, etc) is desirable.
