Software Engineer, Java - Monetization

The Commerce Monetization team enables merchants who sell physical goods and services to set up and manage their inventory on Squarespace. We are a product team who owns user experiences including onboarding dashboards, a product editor, and searching/filtering/bulk actions across a merchant's entire product catalog. We also work with other teams to ensure merchant's selling needs are supported by intuitive and best practice shopper experiences on their website.

As a backend engineer on the team, you'll influence the microservice architecture to build the APIs that power these experiences and Public APIs, partnering with cross-team collaborators and contributing code to complex projects that align technical investments with priorities.

This is a hybrid role working from our Dublin office 3 days per week. You will report to the Engineering Team Manager based in New York.

• Build: Develop performant, reliable, and scalable backend services that power the systems that send millions of messages a day.
• Collaborate: Work closely with product managers to translate business goals into features that deliver real value for our users.
• Plan: Contribute to architecture discussions and design reviews, helping define how backend systems are built.
• Own: Take responsibility for features throughout the development lifecycle, from implementation to launch and maintenance.

• 3+ years of experience building backend systems in a production environment.
• Proficiency in Java, or another object-oriented programming language.
• Experience with system design, algorithms, and distributed systems concepts.
• Experience with databases such as MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or similar technologies.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
