Job Details
Attalon’s Laser Product Division has a need for a Software Engineer III (Test and Automation) to lead the development of test automation capabilities. You will work with a multi-disciplinary team to maintain the test and measurement automation suite for all laser product lines. The ideal candidate will have a background in software/programming with proven skills in LabVIEW development. Hands-on experience working with electronic test equipment and industrial hardware for optical test benches such as chillers, heaters, cameras, motors, etc. is essential for this role.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain LabVIEW-based test, metrology, and automation software for high power laser test stations
- Partner with Software Engineering and IT to manage backend data storage of captured laser test data using tools like Microsoft SQL Server and SQLite
- Develop tools for visualization and reporting of laser test data to be used by engineering and manufacturing teams
- Work with product engineering and manufacturing teams to develop test methods and automation to meet customer requirements
- Develop new methods for test automation to improve throughput and reduce hands-on touch-time by expanding test capabilities
- Other duties as required
Minimum Qualifications
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a science/technical discipline
- 3-5 years of relevant experience
- 1-3 years of experience with LabVIEW & NI data acquisition hardware
- Basic knowledge of database design best practices and SQL
- Hands-on experience with laboratory test instrumentation and basic industrial equipment
Preferred Qualifications
- M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a science/technical discipline
- Advanced knowledge of database design best practices, Microsoft SQL Server, and SQLite
- Experience in C# (WinForms and WPF), specifically for data retrieval, plotting, and visualization interfaces
- Experience with lasers, optics, and embedded electronics
