Position: Software Systems Engineering Manager

Experience : 12+ Years

Location : Bangalore/Chennai

 

Job Description

 

The Cloud Engineering team in India is looking for a passionate, self-driven, technology-oriented Engineering Manager/senior engineering Manager having a natural mindset for - Developing Enterprise-class products, customer satisfaction, Innovation, architecting, troubleshooting, leading and managing a team of high-performance engineers. A self-driven go-getter who thrives in a technical environment and is happy to take on everyday challenges with a mature approach.

 

Experience / Skill Required

 

. Minimum 12+ Years of software development experience including leadership of effective and innovative teams.

· Bachelor’s / Master’s of Science Degree in Computer Science (or equivalent).

· Min 2 years of experience in managing engineering teams of at least 8-10 Engineers, with an ability to rally the team to achieve high performance in a collaborative environment

· Proficiency in modern Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Agile development methodologies involving CI/CD, Distributed Systems, Microservices, and Infrastructure-as-code.

· Experience leading and providing technical guidance to teams working on Software Development and Testing products, preferably in centre networking or Cloud Native Networking.

 

Technical Skills Required:

 

· Strong Exposure to networking domain including switching and routing protocols, and manageability of networking solutions.

· Experience in networking domain for Layer 2 switching, L3 routing protocols, BGP, VxLAN, VLAN,

· Hands-on programming experience in one or more languages such as Python, Java, Golang, C, or C++.

· Strong knowledge of API design such as RESTful API, XML APIs, and SNMP.

· Knowledge of Cloud infrastructure technologies like Kubernetes & Containers, and Golang in a multi-core, multi-threading environment.

· Strong working experience in developing applications using microservice-based architecture, Docker containers, understanding of DB concepts – and API designs

 

 

Other Qualifications:

 

Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills, effectively able to collaborate with multiple teams across geographically diverse areas.

· Strong experience in architecting a product level or several feature level designs, breaking them down to tasks, assigning them to the right engineers, co-ordination within the team and across teams, conducting relevant reviews during the software life-cycle, ensuring quality at all stages of the development process, believe in a left-shift quality process, plan for automation and feature-testing.

· Strong communication skills and technical articulation skills are mandatory.

· Experience in full software development life cycle using Agile methodologies

· Strong emphasis on achieving key objectives and results.

 

Role and Responsibilities

 

· Lead and manage team of software development engineers

· Plan the deliverables for one or more product releases

· Participate in and drive the team to architect/design, develop, test, automate several features on Extreme’s Cloud platform

· Conduct reviews as needed at every stage of the development and test process and ensure the necessary quality

· Co-ordinate with different stake holders (like PLM, PM, QA, peer teams..etc) as needed to achieve key objectives and results

· Innovate and implement new ideas as needed during the development and test process

· Plan for and attend meetings and conference calls as needed to ensure smooth execution of the deliverables

· Conduct scrum meetings regularly as needed

· Use a flexible and priority approach to address incoming customer issues

· Participate in and drive managerial activities like hiring, conducting 1on1s with engineers, appraisals, keeping the team motivated, ensuring continuous learning, and maintaining a team culture that is aligned with the company culture.
