Autodesk is searching for a skilled Software Development Engineer to join our Platform Services and Emerging Technologies team. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and optimizing our cloud-based platform, with a focus on API Gateway, serverless computing, virtual machines, and container orchestration services in both AWS and GCP environments. As a key member of the API Management team at Autodesk, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Autodesk Platform Services. You will be responsible for owning, managing, and developing solutions across North-South and East-West API Gateways, ensuring robust, scalable, and high-performing API management for Autodesk's extensive platform.
Responsibilities
- API Gateway Solutions: Design, develop, and manage solutions for North-South and East-West API Gateways that support the entire Autodesk Platform Services
- Cloud-Based Solutions: Create cloud-based solutions for metering and monetizing APIs capable of handling over 25,000 requests per second
- Multi-Region Availability: Ensure the platform's availability across multiple regions to provide a seamless user experience globally
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with multiple engineering teams to implement platform solutions, fostering a collaborative environment
- Productivity and Efficiency: Identify opportunities to enhance team productivity and efficiency, contributing actively to solutions
- Code Quality: Participate in code reviews, address technical debts, and promote innersourcing of the platform
- Operational Support: Respond to operational requests and incidents related to the platform on a rotational basis
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in platform development or a similar role
- At least 4 years of hands-on software development experience in Python, Java, or NodeJS
- Proficiency in serverless computing services such as AWS Lambda
- Hands-on experience with virtual machine services (AWS EC2, GCP Compute Engine) and container orchestration (AWS ECS, GCP Container Engine, Kubernetes)
- Strong understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and tools like Terraform and CloudFormation
- Proven experience in designing and implementing scalable, high-performance platform solutions
- Experience in implementing unit and integration tests
Preferred Qualifications
- AWS certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified Developer
- GCP certifications such as Professional Cloud Developer or Professional Cloud Architect
- Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment and testing
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as CloudWatch and Dynatrace
Ideal Candidate
- Extensive background in cloud software or platform development with expertise in serverless computing, virtual machines, and container orchestration services in AWS and GCP environments
- Deep knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and tools
- A collaborative mindset with a passion for leveraging cloud services to build scalable and resilient platforms
- Strong understanding of network topology, related protocols, and troubleshooting inter-cloud network issues
- Up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in cloud computing and platform development
