Job Profile Summary:
The Software COE Manager leads the Software Center of Excellence (COE) team within the CT Software Organization. This role is responsible for driving engineering excellence by governing Software Requirement and System Design, ensuring solutions and designs are robust, compliant, and clearly defined. The role oversees regulatory compliance, cybersecurity, complaint investigation, and CAPA execution. The role fosters a culture of innovation and continuous improvement and champions the transformation of software development through Agile practices and Harness Engineering for reliable AI-augmented software delivery.
Job Responsibilities:
- Strategizes software requirement, solution and system design initiatives to align with long-term business objectives and technological advancements, championing innovative solutions to drive organizational growth.
- Oversees compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards, conducting regular evaluations to ensure adherence and mitigate risks effectively.
- Direct software requirements and system design. Collaborates with Product Managers and System Engineers to translate Clinical and Product needs into precise, technically feasible software requirements and robust logical designs.
- Deeply integrates DFMEA into the requirement and design phases to identify potential failure modes early and enforce risk control measures.
- Acts as the Security Owner for CT Software. Ensures Security Requirements are defined and implemented, managing vulnerability scanning, threat modeling, and compliance with cybersecurity regulations.
- Provides strategic direction for software maintenance and enhancement activities, overseeing the implementation of upgrades and optimizations to improve software performance and reliability.
- Leads technical investigations for complaints and CAPA, utilizing systematic root cause analysis to trace field issues back to gaps in requirements, design logic, implementation, or process execution, and drives effective corrective and preventive actions to closure.
- Defines best practices and standards for software development, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement within the department.
- Pioneers Harness Engineering practices for AI-augmented software delivery, establishing specification quality standards, engineering guardrails, workflow controls, and automated feedback loops that allow coding agents and developers to generate, test, validate, and document software safely within governed SDLC processes.
- Participates in executive-level meetings and discussions, providing insights and recommendations to senior leadership regarding technology investments, resource allocation, and strategic initiatives.
- Manages talent across the team, while driving employee selection, performance management, compensation management, career development, and ensuring effective operational management.
- Empowers and mentors team members, providing guidance and coaching to enhance their skills and professional development, while fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's / Master's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or equivalent.
Experience:
- Minimum 5+ years of software engineering experience in Medical Devices or safety-critical industries.
- Strong experience with Software Requirement and System Design. Proven track record of translating complex clinical and user needs into clear technical specifications and robust system designs.
- Experience with Harness Engineering, AI-augmented software delivery, or agent-assisted development workflows is preferred, including familiarity with structured specifications, pipeline-native automation, automated test generation, feedback loops, and governance controls for safe use of coding agents.
- Experience leading CAPA investigations in regulated software environments, including problem definition, root cause analysis, containment, corrective and preventive action planning, effectiveness verification, and cross-functional stakeholder alignment.

Skills Required
