Job Summary

Works to prevent workplace accidents. The Site Safety Manager assists in establishing a culture of health and safety, evaluates practices and procedures, and facilitates risk and adherence assessment. The Site Safety Manager reports to the Safety Director.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Create a culture of safety for our employees by maintaining Strack’s safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards and regulations.
  • Plan and implement programs to train supervisors and craft in specific site safety practices, injury prevention fire prevention/protection, chemical management (HazCom) heavy mobile equipment safety and other safety related programs
  • Maintains regular project and meeting attendance; leave schedule should be managed to not interfere with ability to accomplish task including special projects and assignments with deadlines
  • Perform daily site and facility inspections to detect existing or potential incident and health hazards, determine preventative/corrective actions and follow up to ensure action is taken
  • Assist in preparing, reviewing and revising the job-specific safety plans, JSAs and toolbox conversations
  • Coordinate and conduct worksite inspections, assessments, surveys and program evaluations to identify potential hazards and for compliance with all applicable safety and health regulations and contract requirements and prepares written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective or preventative measures 
  • Compile monthly safety tracking data reports for site Project Supervisors.  Provide additional safety reporting as requested
  • Collaborate with superintendents, project managers, and GCs on investigations of incidents and documents properly. Assist in implementation of corrective actions as it relates to the incident
  • Makes corrective action and worker protection recommendations to site Project Supervisors regarding safety and health concerns affecting the company
  • Provide required/requested safety equipment to project sites
  • Manage transitional return to work program for site injured workers
  • Communicate to site supervisors’ results of audits, inspection and incidents performed for their projects
  • Compile and submit required safety reports to General Contractor representatives per contract requirements (project specific)
  • Conduct site specific employee safety orientation training (site specific)
  • Maintain safety and accident records, files, training, JSA and safety training using the HCSS system.
  • Accompany all safety and health and insurance inspections on project walk throughs as required
  • Maintain and administer safety related tracking and paperwork
  • Maintain and administer the project chemical inventory and SDS documentation
  • Build and maintain the site Emergency Action Plan
  • Attend safety-related seminars, meetings, forums, etc., as needed.
  • Always adhere to Strack Inc. guidelines and procedures
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, office, field site and vehicle as applicable

Essential Requirements:

  • Knowledgeable in Grading Operations, Trenching and Excavation,  Municipal Projects or Army Corps of Engineers.
  • Willing or able to obtain a BCSP certification within 3 years

  • They must be willing and able to travel out of town and/or out of state to work on job sites.
  • Must have good work ethics: Be on time, Work hard, and be willing to learn.

Preferred Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or 5 years experience in a safety-related field.
  • OSHA 500
  • Being bilingual is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Word
  • High level of character
  • Practical communication skills across all departments.
  • Possesses keen observation skills; pays attention to and remembers work-related instructions, demonstrations, and procedures.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks.

Skills Required
