IKEA Industry, part of the Inter IKEA Group, is a world-leading producer of wooden furniture and an integrated part of the IKEA value chain. IKEA Industry has ~15,000 co-workers in more than 30 production units across 18 sites in 7 countries. We have sawmills, boards, furniture components and furniture production. 

IKEA Industry Malacky is one of the key manufacturing locations within IKEA Industry and plays a vital role in supporting the IKEA vision of creating a better everyday life for the many people. Located in western Slovakia, the Malacky Site is a strategically positioned and dynamic production hub with a strong focus on innovation, sustainability, and customer satisfaction. 

The site consists of three core production units: 

  • The Boards production unit is dedicated to the manufacturing of high-quality, innovative, and sustainable wood-based boards and panels. These boards form the foundation for many IKEA furniture products and are developed with a focus on resource efficiency, durability, and environmental responsibility. 
  • The High Gloss furniture production unit specializes in producing high gloss furniture, with a particular emphasis on bathroom solutions. This unit combines advanced surface technology with precise craftsmanship to deliver modern, stylish, and functional furniture that meet the aesthetic and practical needs of today’s customers. 
  • The MBK Production unit is a state-of-the-art, innovative facility focused on producing one of IKEA’s most iconic and beloved products – the BILLY bookcase. This modern factory is designed for high-volume, high-efficiency production while maintaining exceptional quality standards and flexibility to adapt to evolving customer expectations.

Job Description

Your new job

As Site Manager, together with your Management Team, you will be leading and developing the Malacky site, of approx. 600 co-workers, in both the business and people dimensions. The IKEA vision, business idea and culture are our guiding stars, and you are working towards the agreed goals and contribute to affordability, accessibility, and sustainability for our customers. You will work closely together with the co-workers on the site and several stakeholders and partners within our IKEA value chain but also with external partners.

As Site Manager you’ll play an important role in the team. In the coming years, we’ll continue to work on continuous improvements in all our factories and processes, among other things developing the eco-board concept and take further steps in the sustainability agenda. Your primary focus will be to lead and develop a competent, learning, and high-performing organization and create a work environment where IKEA culture and values are a living reality. You naturally lead by example and set the preconditions to make the ‘how’ we do business as important as delivering results. You’ll report to the Manufacturing Area Manager, Amanda To.

On a typical working day, you will:

  • Lead as a good example for the IKEA key values through behaviours and actions.
  • In close collaboration with other stakeholders, establish plans to secure a sustainable material supply and being in the forefront to implement new materials, always with the democratic design principles as the base.
  • Secure that all legal requirements for the site are fulfilled including ensuring compliance with internal requirements and business rules, laws and regulations.
  • Strive to minimize the site impact on environment (waste, emissions, energy efficiency etc.) as well as to work actively to be a good citizen in the community where we are operating.
  • Actively contribute to the business success of the whole IKEA Industry, Supply organization as well as other parts of IKEA. 
  • Secure that the site is in the forefront with manufacturing and strive to be a world class organization in all aspects. Ready to support and share knowledge, good examples and best practices with other Industry sites/organizations as well as with other IKEA suppliers.

 

Qualifications

What we’d like you to bring to the table

The role as a Site Manager requires you to:

  • Have senior-level experience in general management within an international, industrial and manufacturing business environment, supported by a technical and/ or university degree.
  • Have the capability to build trust and partnership with stakeholders internally and externally.
  • Have an inclusive leadership style, and a true passion to develop both business and people together.
  • Be driven by a constant urge to improve, find new opportunities and make things happen by inspiring and engaging and motivating people.
  • Have great communication skills and to be fluent in English, both written and spoken. You can communicate a clear direction for the organization which creates a bridge to the IKEA vision and inspires curiosity to learn and try out new things.
  • Create an environment where your teams feel that they can challenge existing ways of doing things with the ambition to constantly renew and improve our ways of working.
  • Adapt quickly to changing circumstances and deviations from plans
  • Create an inclusive environment where everyone feels respected and valued for their contribution

It’s a plus if you also:

  • Have knowledge in the Slovak language, written and spoken
  • Have previous leadership experience in the wood, panel, or process industry
