Sewer (Langkaan)

A Sewer’s (Industrial Fabric/Upholstery Sewer) primary role is to cut, stitch, and assemble high-quality fabric, leather, and upholstery components for furniture and appliance linings. Main duties include operating industrial sewing machinery, measuring and cutting fabrics according to patterns, aligning material panels, and reinforcing seams to ensure both durability and aesthetic excellence.

This role is responsible for maintaining flawless stitching precision across all production lines and ensuring that finished fabric covers fit structural frameworks perfectly. Additionally, the Sewer must keep an organized workspace, handle textile materials with care to minimize waste, and adhere strictly to machine safety protocols to meet tight production schedules.

🧵 Industrial Sewing & Assembly: Operate industrial sewing machines and specialized stitching equipment to join fabric, leather, or synthetic panels for furniture upholstery.

📐 Pattern Interpretation & Cutting: Read production orders and templates to accurately measure, align, and cut upholstery materials, ensuring minimal fabric waste.

🔍 Quality Inspection: Examine raw textile materials for flaws before cutting and inspect finished seams to ensure they meet "Zero-Defect" durability and aesthetic standards.

🛠️ Equipment & Tool Maintenance: Perform basic maintenance on sewing machines (such as threading, changing needles, and adjusting tension); report mechanical issues immediately.

📈 Production Workflow Support: Collaborate with structural builders and assemblers to ensure fabric components match framework dimensions perfectly and meet daily production targets.

🎓 Education: High School Diploma, Technical/Vocational graduate, or equivalent certification in Tailoring, Dressmaking, or Industrial Sewing is preferred.

⏳ Experience: Proven experience operating industrial sewing machines, preferably within a furniture upholstery, automotive interior, or heavy textile manufacturing environment.
