GHD’s WA Environment business has an opportunity for a Senior Zoologist to join our Ecology team in Perth.
Our Environment business has maintained strong growth in recent years and is currently one of the largest groups in WA, being a leader in impact assessment and approvals, terrestrial ecology, marine, air and noise assessments services.
Our ecologists, environmental scientists and technical professionals deliver a range of innovative services associated with the natural and aquatic environments. Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
- Leading ecological assessments and surveys in WA.
- Ensuring compliance with Western Australian legislation and regulatory frameworks relevant to biodiversity conservation and environmental impact.
- Leading and participating in fieldwork, data collection, and analysis related to grasslands and other ecosystems.
- Developing and implementing monitoring programs to assess the impact of development projects on local wildlife.
- Providing scientific expertise and guidance on ecological best practices to clients and project teams.
- Coaching and mentoring junior staff, fostering their professional growth and development.
- Preparation of proposals and technical reports for public and private sector clients
What would you bring to the team?
- Bachelor’s Degree in Science with a Zoology, Ecology or Environmental Science major
- Extensive experience (minimum 10 years) that includes ecological consulting
- In-depth knowledge of Western Australian legislation and regulatory requirements related to biodiversity and environmental conservation.
- Proven track record in managing and delivering complex projects
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities.
- A current full driver’s license
Relocation to WA from within Australia will be considered.
