Details of the role and how it fits into the team

Workout & Recovery Management is the workout function in Credit Risk Management with global responsibility for the handling of exposures with deteriorated risk profile for several portfolios across CB, IB and PB while ensuring the bank has an independent approach to recovery and insolvency management. WRM’s global mandate is supported by a broad regional set-up with teams covering Germany, EMEA, Asia and the Americas. Experienced specialists are in charge for the qualified handling of restructuring situations and liquidation processes with focus on risk reduction and protection of the Bank’s capital. WRM Workout & Recovery Managements EMEA covers Corporate, Financial Institution, Commercial Real Estate and Sovereign clients within the region EMEA (excluding Germany). WRM EMEA teams are located in Berlin and Amsterdam, this role relates to the team in Berlin.  

Your key responsibilities

  • Drive, manage and steer the designated, highly complex portfolio of critical exposures with the objective to reduce the bank’s risk, risk cost and capital consumption and to maximise recoveries by achieving a successful restructuring and turnaround while aiming to keep the valuable client relationships for DB

  • Restructure existing credit risk / borrower’s capital structure by extensive and differentiated analysis of exposures with a holistic view on risks

  • Elaborate scenarios for financial restructurings – in a deal team or leading position – including critical review of client’s operational restructuring approach as well as turnaround and divestment potential

  • Develop and implement risk-adequate workout and liquidation strategies

  • Reliable and decisive internal and external stakeholder management and coordination and consultation with all internal and external parties/advisors/risk underwriters involved

Your skills and experiences

  • Academic degree in Finance and/or Economics and/or Law or equivalent (e.g., completed professional education with additional qualification)

  • Several years of international structuring or restructuring experience and basics of legal restructuring & insolvency framework, ideally in EMEA region, some proven legal knowledge and experience would be preferred

  • Strong negotiation, communication and analytical skills, persistence, and self-confidence

  • Resilience, persuasiveness, intercultural awareness, flexibility to work in a multinational approach, willingness and agility to cope with constantly changing situations and challenges

  • Fluent Business English, a further language skill in one of the other EMEA jurisdictions would be beneficial

  • Willingness to attend client meetings in EMEA region in a cost containing manner
