Senior Tax Manager

Duties: Responsible for tax provision, reporting and related disclosures for Schrödinger financial statements in accordance with accounting principles to government agencies. Responsible for global corporate tax compliance filings to tax authorities. Responsible for underlying data, tax attributes, calculations and supporting technical studies. Manage global tax strategy and risk; global corporate income tax compliance; tax accounting; and tax reporting. Assist with federal and state corporate tax return filings and related computations. Maintain relevant documentation and computation for quarterly and annual tax provision. Oversee current and deferred tax reporting for domestic and foreign legal entities, including but not limited to analysis and determination of valuation allowances, re-investment assertions, and related translation adjustments. Facilitate technical studies with internal and external parties.
Requirements: Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance, Economics or a closely related field plus 5 years of experience as a Senior Associate, Senior Tax Associate or other closely related position involving the handling of global corporate income tax provisions and compliance, global tax accounting and reporting. Work experience must include: Managing/supervising internal accounting/finance departments and external providers, providing technical input as needed, and running the tax compliance process end-to-end; Liaising with other functions (e.g. legal, payroll) in optimizing tax efficiencies across internal and external client services, tax risk management, and fulfilling regulatory & compliance requirements; Applying knowledge of U.S. taxation including Tax Cuts and Jobs Act; Applying knowledge of international taxation, including GILTI, BEAT, FDII, cross-border transactions, statutory reporting and filings; Applying knowledge of Transfer Pricing Policies and documentation as required by OECD and local administration, and the related impacts on computations between intercompany activities, settlements, and tax implications such as top-up taxes, corporate tax adjustments, and withholding taxes; Applying knowledge of state taxation and experience preparing and reviewing complex tax calculations (including SBC, GILTI/FDII, FTC, 382 limitations, R&D credits and capitalization), tax filings and reporting and responding to tax notices; Utilizing tax research skills to look up, analyze, draw conclusions, and document findings to support tax compliance and reporting positions; Researching tax codes, case laws, and monitoring and providing interpretation of tax regulatory changes; Data analysis and modeling including reviewing, organizing and utilizing data to meet compliance and reporting needs; Project management in an in-house setting including navigating internal stakeholders to obtain information and coordinating specialized tax studies, such as Transfer Pricing/ R&D studies for compliance reporting; Tax planning and strategy in managing tax entity set-ups, restructurings, transactions, permanent establishment risks and filing related compliance forms; Using Accounting Standard Codification 740 to prepare and/or review tax provisions such as overseeing current and deferred tax reporting for domestic and foreign legal entities; and, Supervision of external tax preparers to ensure compliance with ASC 740 standards during quarterly/annual close and to meet tax compliance due dates. May work from home but must be able to report to New York, New York office at least 2 days per week. Salary is $190,000 per year. - Tax planning experience for entity setups, restructurings, permanent establishment risk and related filings
- Experience using Accounting Standard Codification 740 to prepare and/or review tax provisions
- Supervision of external tax preparers to ensure ASC 740 compliance during close and tax filing processes
- Ability to report to New York office at least 2 days per week (hybrid requirement)
