As a Senior Tax Accountant, you will be responsible for supporting Wesco’s tax compliance, audits, tax provision, and tax planning. You may also assist in reviewing the work of more junior staff.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with local accounting teams across APAC under the guidance of the APAC Indirect Tax Supervisor.
- Prepare and review indirect tax compliance for multiple legal entities, including VAT/GST returns, withholding tax returns, and issuance of withholding tax certificates across 14 countries.
- Provide tax advisory support to finance and business functions, including sales, procurement, accounts payable, credit, and operations teams.
- Manage tax audits, tax and customs authority enquiries, and investigations.
- Review, analyse, and strengthen indirect tax controls and processes, including VAT/GST treatment of employee expenses, company vehicles, import VAT reconciliations, export documentation, and zero-rated or exempt transactions.
- Support the configuration and maintenance of indirect tax determination systems.
- Act as a regional subject matter expert for tax-related initiatives, including ERP implementations, business transformation projects, and e-invoicing programs.
- Prepare and reconcile indirect tax accounts against the trial balance and supporting records.
- Undertake other ad hoc tax and finance-related responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Taxation, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant tax experience gained in a multinational corporation and a reputable tax advisory firm.
- Strong knowledge of indirect tax regulations, legislation, and compliance requirements.
- Sound understanding of accounting principles, practices, and their practical application would be an added advantage
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word; knowledge of Access or other data tools is an added advantage.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage competing deadlines.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong team player with excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
