As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will serve as a senior technical expert for released products, providing system-level oversight, troubleshooting complex technical issues, and driving product improvements across the portfolio.
As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will:- Serve as the technical expert for complex questions across Agilent's detector portfolio.
- Own R&D sustaining activities for released products, including technical escalations, verification, obsolescence management, and product improvements.
- Investigate challenging technical issues through experimentation, data analysis, and root-cause analysis.
- Drive resolution of cross-functional issues spanning optics, electronics, firmware, mechanics, manufacturing, and applications.
- Support initiatives such as supplier transitions, component substitutions, manufacturing improvements, and portfolio optimization.
- Preserve and transfer critical technical knowledge across products and technologies.
- Represent R&D in senior technical reviews and management forums.
- Technical ownership of an established portfolio of industry-leading analytical instruments.
- Exposure to a broad range of technologies, products, and applications.
- A combination of hands-on laboratory work, troubleshooting, and system-level problem-solving.

- Strong systems-thinking skills and the ability to work across multiple technical disciplines.
- Experience troubleshooting complex technical issues through experimentation, measurement, data analysis, and root cause analysis.
- Experience supporting released products, sustaining engineering, technical escalations, or product lifecycle activities.
- Professional proficiency in English and German.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to customer, supplier, and manufacturing sites.
- Experience with analytical instrumentation, chromatography systems, or laboratory equipment.
- Knowledge of detector technologies such as UV/Vis absorbance, fluorescence, refractive index, or light scattering.
