The impact of Sr. Staff Accountant to Coupa:
As the LATAM Senior Staff Accountant, you would be primarily part of our LATAM finance and
accounting team, responsible to support our bookkeeping for our local entities as well as take part in
the compliance processes including the external audits, corporate tax and VAT returns of the Coupa
entities in LATAM.
What you will do:
- Participate in the local statutory bookkeeping for LATAM entities in accordance with the local GAAP and requirements.
- Support the preparation and delivery of successful annual standalone external audits for all Coupa LATAM entities.
- Review tax workpapers and ensure compliance with local tax legislation including monthly withholding, withholding ICA, VAT, annual Corporate Income Tax and other applicable taxes in various LATAM jurisdictions.
- Working closely with the local auditors and supporting the external audit processes by providing the requested supporting evidences and explanations in a timely manner
- Supporting the daily invoice finance review and approval process within MyCoupa for the LATAM region. This will involve working with the Accounts payable and treasury teams.
- Raise spend requisitions in MyCoupa for external services required.
- Work closely with the local consultants, auditors, and tax advisors.
- Take part in the special projects in the LATAM region where needed.
What you will bring to Coupa:
- Bachelor’s degree (BA) in Accounting is required and CPA is preferred.
- Minimum of 4 + years’ experience required in finance (Accounting, Consolidation, Reporting, Audit etc.)
- Big four experience is a plus along with experience in VAT filing and reporting
- Prior experience in bookkeeping for the LATAM local accounts is a plus (especially Colombia) in addition to working knowledge of local LATAM GAAPs/IFRS accounting standards and other relevant local finance regulations in LATAM accounting standards. Experience of US GAAP is a plus.
- Fluent in spoken and written English and Spanish is a requirement, Portuguese is a plus.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to effectively manage time, prioritize tasks/initiatives, and meet established deadlines
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, attention to detail and ability to multitask under tight deadlines
- Advanced personal computer skills i.e. MS Office, Google Docs are required, also experience in MyCoupa, Netsuite is a plus
- Adapt to a fast-paced continuous learning environment and show a willingness to take on additional responsibility where required.
