To provide advice and support in practice formulation and associated best practice improvement tactics; enabling the provision of specialist business development expertise.

Job Description

  • Fully knowledgeable of the International Banking Proposition (IB) &/OR Workplace Banking Proposition and process of prospecting new Employee Value Proposition &/OR IB customers (companies), across sectors
    Demonstrated competencies in identifying potential customers across different market areas, sector types, end consumer segments and match CVP prospects accordingly

  • Professional and effective engagement at executive levels (internal & external)  to pitch the International Banking OR workplace banking business development opportunities to solicit acquisition

  • Effective stakeholder (internal & external) relationship management

  • Effective cross business cluster engagement & collaboration to identify, attain, build and maintain franchise value

  • Align to performance framework to actively pursue key value drivers and performance objectives and outcomes

  • Actively drive and support regional teams to ensure effective customer experience both at organisational and end consumer levels

  • Utilise subject matter expertise and environmental scanning to assess Absa’s competitiveness and market growth opportunities

  • Build effective business reporting framework and capabilities to support business performance and stakeholder engagements & updates

Relationship Management: Establish and maintain professional relationships through networking with industry leaders, regulators and policy makers as well as business partners that are key in the development of new ventures

Delivery Business Development: Champion and manage business bulk acquisition strategic plan in line with Absa Business unit strategy

Market Intelligence: Collect market intelligence through research by reading articles, publications, internet, word of mouth and networking on a daily basis to keep abreast of market developments

People Management: Coach, mentor and manage team members toward driving business objectives and ensuring colleague development

Operations & Compliance: Actively keep up to date with all relevant knowledge, legislation and developments within the business unit and banking industry that may have an impact on the Business Advantage

Education

Bachelors Degree and Professional Qualifications: Business, Commerce and Management Studies (Required)

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Commerce or Management Studies
  • Professional qualifications in Business/Commerce/Management
  • Knowledge of the International Banking and/or Workplace Banking proposition and prospecting processes
  • Experience identifying potential customers across sectors and matching customer value propositions
  • Proven ability to engage and pitch to executive-level internal and external stakeholders
  • Stakeholder relationship management and cross-business collaboration experience
  • Experience building business reporting frameworks and delivering market intelligence
  • People management experience including coaching and mentoring team members
  • Up-to-date knowledge of relevant banking legislation, compliance and industry developments
