Are you an experienced solicitor or barrister looking for an opportunity to shape major developments, support communities and influence key Council priorities?

We are seeking a talented Senior Solicitor to join our Legal Services team, providing expert legal advice across a diverse and challenging portfolio of property matters. Working closely with senior officers, elected members and service departments, you will deliver practical, solution-focused advice on matters ranging from routine transactions to complex, high-profile projects that help deliver the Council’s strategic objectives.

In this role, you will join our Legal Property and Planning team and you will have a focus on property law matters. You will manage your own caseload, lead on complex property matters, represent the Council where appropriate, and work collaboratively with colleagues and external counsel to achieve successful outcomes. You will use your technical expertise, sound judgement and strong analytical skills to provide clear and confident advice to a wide range of stakeholders.

You will have significant experience advising on a broad range of local authority property matters, including complex conveyancing transactions, land held on trust, disposals involving probate estates, and property issues affecting charities and charitable organisations. Experience advising on mortgages, trust arrangements, charitable land transactions and governance matters will be particularly valuable. Experience of advising on Assets of Community Value (ACVs) and related legislation would be an advantage.

As a senior member of the team, you will also contribute to service improvement, support best practice and help maintain the highest standards of professional legal delivery. In return, you will join a supportive, forward-thinking legal service that values collaboration, innovation and professional development. Join us and make a lasting impact on the places and communities we serve.

This position comes with a 15% market supplement payment. All market supplement payments are subject to review on an annual basis.
