Job Description

Philips is a global leader in health technology, dedicated to improving lives through meaningful innovation. One of our five core businesses, Connected Care, focuses on delivering smarter, data-driven solutions that connect patients, providers, and systems to improve outcomes and efficiency.

This role sits within Hospital Patient Monitoring (HPM), which provides advanced monitoring solutions for acute care settings. From bedside and transport monitors to centralized systems, HPM helps clinicians identify at-risk patients and intervene quickly. The position is based in Bangalore, a key hub supporting innovation and collaboration across Philips.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement core engine components in Rust with a focus on correctness, safety, and performance.
  • Own technical decisions and drive scalable, high-performance solutions.
  • Develop and maintain processing pipelines supporting algorithm deployment across embedded and cloud environments.
  • Ensure deterministic and functionally equivalent behavior across all deployment targets.
  • Collaborate with UI, platform, and cloud teams to define APIs and integration interfaces.
  • Optimize CPU, memory, and latency characteristics for real-time execution.
  • Define robust test strategies (unit, component, integration, behavioral) and integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Contribute to verification and validation activities for safety-relevant engine functionality.
  • Produce high-quality technical documentation following engineering policies and quality requirements.
  • Debug and resolve complex software issues while promoting engineering best practices within the team.

You're the right fit if:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 6-8+ years of systems-level or embedded, real-time, or performance-critical software development experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in Rust (ownership, lifetimes, concurrency, memory safety).
  • Experience developing high-performance embedded or real-time applications.
  • Experience designing modular, reusable software components.
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks such as Pytest and Pytest-BDD.
  • Working knowledge of GitHub and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong analytical, debugging, communication, and collaboration skills.

How we work together

We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week.
Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company’s facilities.
Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company’s main facilities, generally at the customers’ or suppliers’ locations.
Indicate if this role is an office/field/onsite role.
