We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Software Engineer with deep expertise in both RxClaim legacy technologies (COBOL/IBM i) and modern Java-based application development to drive the enhancement, maintenance, and modernization of critical Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) solutions supporting RxClaim Batch Loads and Extracts (BLE) and related business functions.
The successful candidate will play a key role in transforming legacy business capabilities into scalable, maintainable, and cloud-aligned solutions while ensuring the ongoing reliability, performance, security, and compliance of critical healthcare applications. This position requires a strong balance of hands-on technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to influence technical direction across multiple workstreams.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide technical expertise across the software development lifecycle, driving the design, development, testing, implementation, and support of enterprise-scale solutions within the RxClaim ecosystem
- Work across IBM i (AS/400) applications, high-volume batch processing systems, APIs, event-driven integrations, and Java-based services while partnering with architects, product teams, business stakeholders, and engineering teams to advance strategic modernization initiatives
- Comply with all applicable Company policies, procedures, and business directives, changes including those relating to work location, team assignments, work schedules, and flexible work arrangements
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of software engineering experience
- 3+ years of COBOL application development experience in an enterprise environment
- 2+ years of Java application development experience
- Solid experience with:
- COBOL
- DB2
- Batch Processing
- Production Support
- Experience working within Agile and SDLC methodologies
- Advanced knowledge of COBOL (CBL/CBLLE), CLLE, DB2 for i, Java, Spring Framework, RESTful APIs, and distributed application architectures
- Proven solid analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Proven excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualification:
- Experience integrating legacy systems with modern platforms, cloud technologies, automation frameworks, and AI-assisted development practices
