Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Windows Patch Installation Developer to join our IT Operations or Endpoint Management team. The role involves designing, developing, testing, and deploying automated solutions for patch installation across Windows environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Windows OS internals, patch management strategies, scripting languages, and enterprise software deployment tools.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain scripts/tools (e.g., PowerShell, VBScript) for automated patch installation and validation across Windows endpoints and servers.
Coordinate and implement monthly and out-of-band Windows patch deployments.
Integrate patch deployment workflows with patch management systems such as SCCM, Intune, BigFix, or Tanium.
Validate and test patches in staging environments before rollout to production.
Collaborate with security and vulnerability management teams to address critical patching requirements based on CVEs and vendor advisories.
Troubleshoot patch installation failures and document root cause analysis and resolutions.
Ensure compliance with organizational patching policies and SLAs.
Generate reports for patch status, deployment success/failure, and system compliance.
Stay updated with Microsoft Patch Tuesday releases and new patching technologies.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
3+ years of experience with Windows patch management and catalog creation.
Strong experience with Windows OS patching (Windows 10/11, Windows Server 2016/2019/2022).
Proficient in PowerShell scripting (mandatory).
Hands-on experience with patch management tools (e.g., Microsoft SCCM, WSUS, Intune, Tanium, BigFix, Ivanti, etc.).
Knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, and software deployment techniques.
Familiarity with vulnerability management tools and concepts (e.g., CVE, QID, KB articles).
Understanding of change and incident management processes (e.g., ITIL framework).
Preferred Qualifications:
Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate or similar certification.
Experience working in enterprise or regulated environments (e.g., healthcare, finance, government).
Familiarity with DevOps practices or CI/CD integration for infrastructure automation.
Basic understanding of networking and endpoint security.
