Senior Software Engineer

Join the Machine Learning team at Workiva and help bring our customers value using your experience to deliver resilient and user-friendly web applications that incorporate Artificial Intelligence. The machine learning team is working to bring Generative AI and Machine learning tools to as many customers as possible across a number of context specific use cases. Much of this is built in the Dart language, but we're scaling up to accelerate enablement of TypeScript as a first class frontend language at Workiva!
As a Senior Frontend Engineer, you will play a central role in, canonizing best practice patterns and tools, and guiding / mentoring fellow engineers in front end development. You will help us elevate our frontend developer experience and bolster the scalability, adaptability, and expansiveness of our Generative AI and ML products and features throughout the application.

What You'll Do

• Develop and enhance the user interface for our AI solutions in a variety of contexts across the product.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and a cohesive user experience
• Optimize UI performance and responsiveness to deliver a smooth user experience
• Collaborate with product owners, designers, and other stakeholders to understand and refine project requirements and ensure alignment with product vision and strategy
• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code that follows industry best practices and coding standards
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members to ensure code quality and consistency
• Deliver and document team or group level technical solutions that meet or exceed customer expectations
• Develop and execute comprehensive test plans and automated tests (unit, integration, functional, etc.) with Workiva solutions in mind to ensure software quality and reliability
• Debug and troubleshoot complex issues across multiple service and application contexts using tools and techniques appropriate for the problem
• Collaborate with support teams in triaging and resolving production issues to ensure customer satisfaction
• Mentor and coach other engineers both technically and culturally, providing guidance and support to help them grow and achieve their full potential
• Communicate complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences, using clear and concise language

What You'll Need
Minimum requirements

• 2+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong experience with Dart, Typescript or React
• Experience architecting frontend APIs
• Experience with micro frontend architecture
• A passion for using the latest AI technologies to bring value to our customers
• Strong debugging skills in complex systems or applications
• Proven experience and passion for technical mentorship
• Strong foundation in computer science, including expertise in data structures, algorithms, object-oriented software design, and working with cloud-based distributed systems
• Experience working in an agile development environment preferred, with a focus on continuous improvement and delivery
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and adaptability skills, with a commitment to staying up-to-date with new technologies and best practices in software engineering

How You'll Be Rewarded
• Salary range in the US: $102,000.00 - $173,000.00• A discretionary bonus typically paid annually
• Restricted Stock Units granted at time of hire
• 401(k) match and comprehensive employee benefits package
