As a Senior Software Engineer, you will design, build, and operate highly scalable platform services that enable software development and service delivery across Microsoft. You will work on engineering systems spanning Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD), release orchestration, compliance automation, governance, software supply chain security, and developer productivity across Azure DevOps, GitHub and other engineering platforms used throughout Microsoft. You will collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, security partners, and service owners to deliver reliable, secure, and customer-focused solutions that simplify how software moves from code to production. You will leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI), data, automation, and cloud technologies to solve complex platform challenges while driving operational excellence and continuous improvement at Microsoft scale.

Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate highly available cloud services and platform capabilities that power software development, Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD), and engineering productivity across Microsoft.
- Drive the architecture, implementation, and evolution of developer platform solutions that improve reliability, scalability, security, and usability for engineering teams.
- Collaborate with software engineers, program managers, security experts, and service owners to deliver end-to-end solutions that simplify software build, validation, release, and compliance workflows.
- Develop automation, observability, and operational excellence practices that improve service health, reduce operational overhead, and accelerate issue detection and resolution.
- Leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI), data and customer feedback to identify opportunities for platform improvements, prioritize investments, and deliver measurable impact for developers and engineering organizations.
- Champion secure engineering practices, software supply chain protections, and governance requirements while enabling engineers to move quickly and confidently.
- Demonstrate technical leadership, mentor engineers, contribute to technical strategy, and drive engineering excellence through collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
- Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of experience designing, building, or operating large-scale CI/CD, platforms, or developer productivity platforms using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar engineering systems.
- 3+ years of experience building or operating cloud services with production reliability, observability, incident response, and operational excellence practices.
- 1+ year of experience applying AI, automation, data, or developer tooling to improve engineering workflows, migration experiences, or software delivery productivity.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $160,200 - $261,000 per year.
