Core Authentication team is one of the fundamental teams in Substrate responsible for building of authentication and authorization stacks that provides user access into Substrate and inter-service communication within the Substrate. The team mission is to provide secure, reliable and resilient authentication and authorization layers for the Substrate and on-premises configurations, including our partners, and to serve as the gatekeeper for the core Microsoft 365 resources.

Responsibilities
- End-to-end ownership of a feature area related to authentication/authorization, responsible for all aspects of designing, developing and deploying the solution.
- Close interactions with cross-functional discipline contributors (product managers, architects, security engineers, support engineers).
- Participation in the on-call rotation.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

- Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

- OR equivalent experience.
- Design, implementation, debugging and testing of complex distributed services.

- Basic knowledge of Distributed Systems and Cloud Technologies.
- Basic knowledge of authentication protocols.
- Experience driving a complex multi-year infrastructure project
- 3+ years of experience building commercial grade software, with much of that experience in a large scale, high availability service.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $160,200 - $261,000 per year.
