Authentication & Tokenization Team

Operating at the intersection of high-grade security and conversion optimization, our Authentication and Tokenization systems deliver robust solutions for global commerce. The Adyen Tokenization solution securely vaults payment credentials to enable seamless, friction-free checkout experiences worldwide while ensuring adherence to localized market regulations. Our Authentication engine dynamically optimizes transaction flows to eliminate checkout friction while maintaining strict compliance.

Both products are core pillars of Adyen Uplift, an advanced, AI-powered payment optimization suite designed to drive peak performance for global enterprise merchants. By capitalizing on Adyen's vast, unparalleled global payments data, Adyen Uplift offers intelligent, AI-powered solutions that help businesses maximize payment conversions, streamline fraud management, and reduce the overall cost of transactions.

Based in one of the world's most dynamic fintech hubs, our engineering team navigates intricate compliance frameworks, including the RBI's Card-on-File Tokenization (CoFT) and multi-factor authentication mandates. We design and scale low-latency, highly resilient distributed systems that process millions of daily transactions. Joining this team means taking complete, end-to-end ownership of mission-critical architecture that directly impacts enterprise merchants and consumers across APAC, Europe, and the Americas.

What you’ll do:

• Work on complex technical projects from requirements analysis through design, implementation, testing and launch into production.
• Bring your own point of view on best engineering practices. 
• Be hands-on and contribute to the implementation.
• Identify and improve parts of the platform to make it more robust and scalable.
• Your code will be used at scale and you are expected to think in that mindset when building features.
• We launch fast and iterate often. Concretely, this means that within your first few weeks, you will bring live functionalities that impact many merchants and shoppers. 
• Build APIs and tooling according to quality principles such as performance and code quality.
• Collaborate across teams and time zones to get projects over the finish line.

Who you are:

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience in a fast-paced technology environment.
• You're not just a coder; you're an engineer with an ownership mentality.
• You have experience with Java, Web Services, REST Apis, Webhooks and SQL/PostgreSql.
• You have a good understanding of Software Engineering practices and interest in product knowledge.
• You are familiar with complex large scale distributed systems.
• You value involving other people to hear different perspectives.

Our Tech Stack: Java 21, Web Services (RESTful) and SQL/PostgreSQL using MyBatis (ORM), Tomcat, Gradle, CockroachDB and Elasticsearch
