Inter IKEA Group connects IKEA franchisees with range development and suppliers and ensures alignment of the overall IKEA strategic direction. Every day, we strive to develop, produce, and sell products and services that are affordable and accessible to everyone. 

This role is positioned in Core Business Range, Range Operations (IITSAB), Technology. You will belong to the Sellable Range Offer team, reporting to the Software Engineering Manager. You will be a part of IKEA’s Price Tag Management domain, enabling the management and distribution of product and pricing information across digital and physical touchpoints. 

The team is based in Malmö. We believe that your presence with the team and working the majority of the time in the workplace is important. Please note the roles requires traveling to Älmhult once a week. 

About the role 

As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll play an important role in a team that develops and operates digital solutions supporting IKEA’s product communication and price tag management across channels. These platforms ensure that accurate, consistent product and pricing information reaches both co-workers and customers worldwide. 

You will work closely with other engineers and product teams to design, build, and continuously improve scalable and high-performing solutions that enable efficient product information flows and support global retail operations. Through your technical expertise and curiosity, you’ll help create reliable systems that balance business needs with quality and performance. 

As a senior member of the team, you will also take technical ownership, support colleagues through mentoring and knowledge sharing, and help guide technical discussions and decisions. You are expected to identify opportunities for improvement and actively contribute to evolving the team’s architecture, engineering practices and technical quality. 

Together with your colleagues, you will contribute to evolving engineering practices, standards and ways of working, ensuring solutions are robust, maintainable and future-proof across the domain. You will challenge existing solutions when needed and help turn technical improvements into concrete actions and outcomes. 

In your role, the user perspective, both co-workers and end customers, is always top of mind. You use data and feedback to guide decisions, contribute to goal setting and follow-up, and help ensure the solutions deliver value and meet expectations. 

You will collaborate with stakeholders across IKEA and retailers around the world to understand needs, identify opportunities, and enable seamless product communication experiences. The impact of our work continues to resonate in homes and hearts across the world. 

On a typical working day, you will:

• Develop and maintain Angular web applications and mobile applications for Android and iOS.
• Collaborate with product teams, designers and backend engineers to create seamless user experiences.
• Build, test and deploy high-quality features, with a focus on performance, security and maintainability.
• Take ownership of technical challenges and drive solutions from idea to implementation.
• Mentor engineers through knowledge sharing, feedback and technical guidance.
• Contribute to technical decisions, architecture and engineering practices.
• Proactively improve reliability, performance and developer experience.

What we’d like you to bring

As a Senior Software Engineer, you:

• Have strong knowledge of modern software engineering practices and experience working in agile teams.
• Have experience with Angular and TypeScript, or similar modern frontend frameworks such as React.
• Have experience with mobile application development.
• Take technical ownership and are comfortable driving complex engineering topics.
• Collaborate effectively across engineering, product and design.
• Mentor others and contribute to technical discussions and decisions.
• Take responsibility for code quality, documentation and continuous improvement.
• Proactively identify opportunities and improvements rather than waiting for direction.

It’s a plus if you:

• Have an interest or experience in backend technologies and infrastructure.
• Have worked across multiple components or products within a digital product area.
• Bring a product mindset, connecting technical decisions to user needs and business outcomes.
• Understand networks, integrations and data flows between systems.
• Have experience influencing technical direction beyond your own development work.
