Job Description
#LI-KO1
Just imagine helping teams move from legacy technologies to a shared LEGO® Data Platform that supports better decisions across the organisation. Then make it real.
About the role
As our Senior Software Engineer – Data Migration, you’ll drive the adoption of the LEGO Data Platform and help product teams build scalable, high-quality data solutions. You’ll combine hands-on engineering with technical enablement, bringing us closer to self-service data engineering. You’ll also use creativity and artificial intelligence to improve and accelerate migration from legacy systems.
Required Qualifications
- Solid experience with Python and SQL, including designing and maintaining data pipelines.
- Hands-on experience with a cloud data platform such as Databricks or Snowflake, and with Apache Spark or PySpark for large-scale processing.
- Solid experience with a major cloud provider (AWS or Azure), including storage, access control and deployment.
- Strong engineering practice: version control with Github or Azure DevOps, automated testing and CI/CD pipelines you have built or improved.
- Experience designing data models and handling schema changes, data quality and error recovery.
- Mentored engineers in data and software engineering practices.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
Preferred Qualifications
- Translated business requirements into technical solutions without compromising on quality and compliance of data.
- Engaged collaboratively with colleagues with different backgrounds and skills and adjusted the communication accordingly.
What you'll build
- Help product teams migrate from legacy technologies to the LEGO Data Platform.
- Solve complex data-engineering challenges across business areas with different levels of technical maturity.
- Create reusable solutions and sustainable engineering practices that improve quality and scalability.
- Create dependable data solutions for business areas with different levels of technical experience.
- Enable teams to use platform capabilities with greater autonomy and confidence.
- Become a trusted technical specialist in the platform architecture and practices endorsed by the Data Office.
- Improve and accelerate migration work with artificial intelligence.
If you’ve worked in a role where you built data solutions with Python, SQL and Databricks or similar tooling, you’ll feel at home here. What matters most is your ability to combine sound engineering with mentoring, practical problem-solving and effective work across teams.
Life on the team
You’ll join Data Office, Migration and Delivery. We’re increasing adoption of LEGO Nexus, enabling legacy platforms to be retired and supporting one reliable source of data. The team works with ownership, curiosity and critical thinking through regular stand-ups, planning and knowledge sharing. We value open communication, experimentation and collective problem-solving. Our hybrid rhythm averages three days each week collaborating in the office. You’ll bring critical thinking, curiosity and a growth mindset to a team that values trust, shared ownership and learning together. There’s no fixed mould for how you grow here.
What success looks like
You’ll become confident solving data challenges across varied business areas while helping teams grow more self-sufficient. Over the next 12 to 18 months, we’ll accelerate legacy migrations, improve the developer experience and strengthen data quality, governance and ownership. You’ll work closely with data engineers, technical leads, product managers, business data teams, platform developers and data-governance specialists.
