Your Impact
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will own design and delivery of Wireless Access Point IoT software features that connect enterprise networks with IoT devices and applications. You will work across embedded Linux, wireless protocols, AP firmware, controller integration, and cloud-facing services to deliver secure, reliable, and serviceable connectivity at enterprise scale, with the goal of all people, devices and machines becoming connected and integrated with enterprise networks. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to in a fast-paced, multi-cloud environment integrating emerging technologies like artificial intelligence into our software development processes and networking products. In this role
Lead the design, development, and delivery of Wireless and IoT software features on Cisco Wireless Access Points as part of a complete solution across embedded, controller, and cloud-integrated systems.
Own features end-to-end, from requirements clarification and technical design through implementation, validation, release readiness, and field support.
Develop and debug production software across networking, embedded Linux, firmware, protocol, container, and system integration layers.
Drive architectural decisions within your area of ownership, balancing scalability, reliability, security, testability, and operational support.
Collaborate with platform, radio, QA, security, product, cloud, and customer-facing teams to deliver integrated solutions.
Improve software quality through code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD practices, threat modeling, defect root-cause analysis and application of artificial intelligence tools.
Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance through design reviews, code reviews, debugging support, and knowledge sharing.
Apply AI-assisted and agentic-based software development practices to accelerate engineering velocity and improve code quality, testing, debugging, or documentation.
Minimum Qualifications
7+ years of experience in software development for embedded, systems or networking on embedded Linux or similar operating environments.
Strong production experience developing, debugging, and maintaining software in C or C++.
Experience with Wireless, IoT, or networking technologies such as BLE, Zigbee, Thread or Wi-Fi
Experience with networking communication protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP and HTTP/S.
Experience with embedded Linux internals, multi-threading, firmware integration, containers, device lifecycle, drivers, scripting and platform tooling.
Ability to design, implement, test, and debug complex software features with limited guidance.
Practical understanding of software quality practices, including code reviews, unit or integration testing, defect analysis, and maintainable design.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Ability to take ownership of technical problems and drive them to resolution across geographically distributed teams.
Experience applying Artificial Intelligence to software engineering workflows, including AI-assisted coding, test generation, debugging, documentation, code review, and agentic or AI-first development practices.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience building secure and reliable software for connected devices, including authentication, authorization, secure update, protocol hardening, or threat modeling.
Experience with observability, serviceability, field debugging, root-cause analysis, and improving operational quality.
Experience with additional networking and service communication protocols such as REST, WebSockets, gRPC, MQTT or related device-to-controller and device-to-cloud interfaces.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, automated test infrastructure, and tools such as Jenkins, Yocto, Jira, GitHub, Gerrit, Terraform, or Ansible.
