Senior Software Engineer - AI Expereinces, Microsoft Edge

Microsoft Edge for Business is building the next generation of secure, AI-powered enterprise browsing. As part of Microsoft’s AI Experiences organization, our team connects the browser with Microsoft’s security, compliance, identity, management, and productivity ecosystem to help organizations confidently adopt AI while protecting their users and data.

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer with strong C++ expertise to design and deliver security, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), and Copilot integrations for commercial customers. You will work at the intersection of browser technology, enterprise security, and generative AI—building capabilities that protect sensitive information while enabling productive experiences in Microsoft Edge.You will help shape the future of enterprise browser and Copilot management for customers around the world.

This role offers opportunities to drive architecture, influence product direction, mentor engineers, and ship high-quality solutions at Microsoft scale. You will collaborate closely with teams across Microsoft Edge, Microsoft Security, Microsoft Purview, Microsoft 365, and Microsoft AI Experiences. AI Experiences employees who live within a 50- mile commute of a designated Microsoft Hub in the U.S. are expected to work from the office at least four days per week. This expectation is subject to local law and may vary by jurisdiction. 

• Design, implement, test, and ship secure, reliable, and performant features in the Microsoft Edge C++ codebase, with a focus on enterprise security, Data Loss Prevention, and Copilot experiences.
• Drive technical architecture and execution for integrations between Microsoft Edge and Microsoft’s security, compliance, identity, and management ecosystem, including Microsoft Purview.
• Lead cross-organizational initiatives spanning browser components, native code, cloud services, and other Microsoft products while applying secure engineering principles to sensitive data, enterprise policies, authentication, and telemetry.
• Partner with product managers, security experts, and engineers to translate commercial customer requirements into scalable solutions, using telemetry and customer feedback to improve quality, performance, and reliability.
• Shape the team’s long-term technical strategy, mentor engineers through design and code reviews, and foster a culture of technical excellence, innovation, inclusion, and continuous learning.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field AND 4+ years of technical engineering experience designing, developing, testing, and debugging production software in C++
  • OR equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field AND 6+ years of software engineering experience
  • OR a Bachelor’s Degree AND 8+ years of software engineering experience, with substantial production development in C++
  • OR equivalent experience.
• Strong C++ software engineering experience, including designing, implementing, testing, and debugging secure, reliable, and high-performance production software.
• Strong foundation in modern C++, including object-oriented design, STL, RAII, memory management, multithreading/concurrency, performance optimization, data structures, algorithms, and debugging.
• Experience with large-scale, cross-platform software systems, ideally involving browsers, operating systems, enterprise security, DLP, identity, or AI-powered product integrations 

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $160,200 - $261,000 per year.
