About the Role
The Office of the SVP, Engineering is redefining how software gets built, tested, and delivered across Salesforce. We're looking for a Senior Member of Technical Staff to help build the next generation of our core engineering platforms and automation systems — infrastructure that thousands of engineers rely on every day to ship high-quality products faster and with more confidence. You'll work hands-on across the platform's architecture, contribute directly to its technical direction, and help mentor engineers as the team grows.
What You'll Be Doing:
Design and build large-scale, multi-region infrastructure platforms and automation systems that directly improve the developer experience
Contribute to the technical strategy and roadmap for our core engineering platform's evolution and modernization, keeping it aligned with business priorities
Lead proof-of-concepts, evaluate emerging technologies, and run platform research to keep our engineering capabilities current
Analyze complex, large-scale systems to find and fix root causes of instability, performance bottlenecks, or technical debt
Mentor engineers with hands-on technical guidance and code-level support
Communicate technical decisions and trade-offs clearly to engineering peers, partner teams, and leadership
Required Qualifications:
10+ years of professional software development experience, with hands-on proficiency in Java and AWS
Strong understanding of the Salesforce Platform, including its APIs (Metadata, Tooling, REST), declarative automation (Flows), and security model (Profiles, Permission Sets)
A track record of architecting and implementing large-scale, distributed systems serving thousands of users
Deep experience with cloud platforms (AWS), including networking, security, and serverless services
Hands-on expertise with containerization and orchestration (Kubernetes, service mesh, advanced orchestration patterns)
Experience with Infrastructure as Code at scale, using tools like Terraform Enterprise or custom-built solutions
Working knowledge of CI/CD platform architecture, including Jenkins Enterprise, GitHub Actions, and custom pipeline orchestration
Understanding of microservices architecture, event-driven patterns, and the challenges of platform scalability
Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical topics clearly to varied audiences, including senior leadership
Degree or equivalent relevant experience required. Experience will be evaluated based on the core competencies for the role (e.g. extracurricular leadership roles, military experience, volunteer roles, work experience, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience on large-scale Salesforce implementations for enterprise customers
Familiarity with the wider Salesforce ecosystem, including MuleSoft and Tableau
Experience with modern data platforms — data lakes, streaming platforms like Kafka
Professional experience with additional languages such as Python or Node.js
Knowledge of regulatory compliance frameworks (SOX, FedRAMP, GDPR, or industry-specific requirements)
