The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) is a statutory body established in 1966 to promote, assist and develop Hong Kong's trade. With 51 offices globally, including 13 in the Chinese Mainland, the HKTDC promotes Hong Kong as a two-way global investment and business hub.
The HKTDC organises international exhibitions, conferences and business missions to create business opportunities for companies, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), in the mainland and international markets. The HKTDC also provides up-to-date market insights and product information via research reports and digital news channels.
As we celebrate our 60th anniversary in 2026 and begin a new three-year business cycle, our mission remains as strong as ever to help Hong Kong thrive in trade and businesses succeed in the ever-changing landscape.
Responsibilities:
- Assist a team of economists with conducting desktop research and quantitative surveys
- Manage survey data and tabulations, and help prepare presentation materials
- Undertake preliminary assessments on assigned research subjects and draft research reports, particularly the Chinese economy topics
- Assist in quantitative surveys and analysis based on instructions from the economists
- Aid in managing Hong Kong and international economic and trade data
- Conduct comprehensive searches for macroeconomic data and market information as necessary, supporting researchers in developing insightful market analysis and forecasts
Requirements:
- A university degree, preferably in economics, finance, or a related discipline with a solid research knowledge
- Proficiency in SPSS is an advantage, along with skills in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and database management software
- Good command of English and Chinese, and spoken Mandarin and Cantonese
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential
- 1-3 years of relevant experiences
Candidates with less solid experiences will be offered as Research Officer
Remuneration and Benefits:
The successful candidate will be appointed on fixed-term contract basis, renewable subject to operational needs. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Skills Required
