Job Description

Our client is dedicated to developing products and capabilities that quantify the impact of climate risk and other sustainability factors on financial assets. This initiative is central to our technology strategy, providing a common language and a main point of reference for our global investment activities. The Application Engineering teams within the Technology group leverage the latest technologies to design and develop applications that form the firm’s investment management platform. These systems support the entire lifecycle of the investment management process, from quantitative risk management to order entry, trade routing, and settlement.
Position Overview:

We are seeking a Senior Python Engineer to elevate our industry-leading asset management platform to the next level. This role offers a dynamic, fast-paced, and challenging work environment, providing broad exposure to both technology and business aspects.
Our primary goal is to enhance user experience and meet business commitments while continually modernizing and improving platform performance and scalability. Although the role is development-focused, it also involves design, deployment, and maintenance, requiring collaboration across various regions and levels of seniority.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement software components according to the specifications.
• Perform system integration and testing, problem troubleshooting, and resolution.
• Perform development testing of software components.
• Participate in estimating project efforts and delivery timelines.
• Proactively collaborate with the teammates to ensure that the project efforts proceed efficiently and with predictability.
• Provide technical input into product roadmaps.
• Analyse input data ensuring high levels of completeness and quality.
• Execute a suite of climate change models across Transition and Physical risk with appropriate operational controls.
• Analyse output data, identifying outliers/errors, driving route cause analysis, and fixes
• Own and manage E2E projects, and balance the needs of upstream, and downstream teams.
• Drive continuous improvement, for quality control and maintenance of analytics models to ensure best-in-class robustness and reliability of analytics output.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience as a Python developer - writing reusable, testable, and efficient code.
• Expertise in SQL.
• Strong unit test and debugging skills.
• Linux is a must.
• Knowledge of SQL particularly the performance-tuning aspect.
• Fluency in English (both verbal and written).
• Good analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
• Open mindset, ability to quickly adapt to new technologies. 
• Strong interpersonal skills with a can-do attitude under challenging circumstances.

Nice to have:

• Exposure to tools like DBT for data transformation over the cloud. 
• Familiarity with MS Azure products, ADO, ADLS, etc.
• Experience in cloud data warehouses (Redshift / Pyspark). 
• Some exposure in Big Data based workloads (Hadoop, Spark, Kafka).
• Orchestration: Airflow DAGs, Kubernetes. 
• Messaging : Kafka , Protobuf.
